My building is not safe

My building ( 6 storeys ) has two staircases titled "Fire Escape ". One opens out to the lobby, and the second opens out directly to the car park area.Checked this morning and found it locked at the car park side. Didnt get a chance to speak to the security , will do so asap. Have you checked the fire exits of your bldgs/ offices. Chance are they may be locked, if yes please them them unlocked.

I'm just wondering, is it law to have a sprinkler system in daycare facilities? What is the law on this. Surely there must be something that says a childcare facility with over X amount of kids, must have certain minimum precautionary measures in place. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Yesterday's devastating incident is a call for all the business owners who owns an establishment/building to make sure that safety precautions are present and well functioned, regular check ups for all the safety notifications devices and accessibility exits whenever problem occurs.... THESE THINGS MUST PUT IN A TOP PRIORITY MEASURE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE...

A big lesson learnt for the entire population of Qatar. But at what cost? Small innocent kids? Shame on the mall management. Hope the responsible will be prosecuted soon.

Everyone is doing the same thing.

This was a wakeup call to Qatar.

Ive been in my flat for 3 years and never check the smoke alarms or extinguishers even though we had a fire there 2/5 years ago.

check everything - ask your daycare and nurseries.

Dont be smug about this and keep away from the stupid comments that a bunch of arseholes make on this site.

Yeah, I never thought about checking our fire-extinguisher or smoke alarms....until this morning. The extinguisher was full but there was no pressure. Have a new one now. Alarms had no batteries in them. A lot of use that was. New batteries installed.

Please check these things in your houses and if you don't have them, go and buy a couple of alarms at least, with next months' paycheck.

My boy is home today, but first thing tomorrow I am going to inspect his daycare's fire/earthquake plan and extinguisher system (if they have one, didn't check). I recommend that others do the same. It is sad how an unfortunate incident like yesterday's is a reminder that there are other ways in which we need to protect what is so important to us.
