Things you need to look out for:

- Emissions test. Clean the injectors if you see your exhaust is letting out a lot of smog

- Tire wear

- Lights test (headlights, indicators, license plate light)

- Tire wear

- Head light haze (light should be relatively clear)

- Head light alignment

- General body damage (bumper scrapes, dents etc)

- tinting (to dark and it will fail)

- Suspension test

- engine and gear mounting check

- engine leak test

I think thats about all they look at. A lot of the stuff up there is split between technical and legal inspection. For example Emissions test and head light alignment test is technical and until and when those are fixed they won't pass your car. Were as general scrapes on bumpers and tint would be a legal requirement which you can get a police officer to sign off unless you have excessive damage on your vehicle or 30%+ tint.

I would suggest you take your car to Bahmour inspection center when you do go for the yearly inspection. I found it to be the quickest and also they seem to test less vigorously. Good luck!
