Yes you are right in some way, in Qatar you need sponsorship in other countries visa, green card or residency etc... at the end you never come freely isn't it ? but once again let's go back to the topic.

if you go to a country with cultural issues, it should be respected. Is like wenting to a friend's home and insulting of his beliefs.

You can continue what you're doing to see if you will be reprimanded so that you will get your conclusion for this matter. And if you get penalties or whatsoever I hope you can post your experience here so that a lot of people will learn from it. It's like thinking if a drop of a melted candle unto the skin will hurt not until someone tried it. Why wait and experience to be on a mess when you can be on the safe side?

since it's all about stereotypes here...zanzibar is probably one of those sad dudes with greasy hair who drives around in circles outside a coffee shop near ramada on thursday nights. in a four wheel drive just so he can feel like a qatari. playing extremely loud pinoy music thinking it's so cool and effective in hooking up with kabayans to relieve his repressed, sex-starved existence.

btw, i'm beginning to think the girl with 3 boyfriends is pretty smart. they're all just using her and will never marry her. why can't she use them back?

there are really LUCKY days and night in Qatar. Just don't push your luck too much. As Britexpat once said, better be safe than sorry! Right, PAdre?

All are speculations I guess, if they cannot come up with a concrete answer on penalties, how do they expect people to follow their rule?

And stealth, I've done it, I wore a short sleeved (that almost bare my shoulder) tee on the mall and nothing happened. I also see females wearing above the knee dresses and some are on spaghetti strap tanks, but none of them were reprimanded... I also saw men strolling in the mall with short shorts and sando, and guess what, nothing happened.., no one dared to ask them to leave. So, I guess nothing will happen (?)

I know a lot of your people who has guy friends, call them everyday and hang out with each other. There's nothing special about this because it's a natural thing to have friends but the unusual thing is that they have a special relationship with there guy friends like those you find between a woman and a man. One of there justifications is that they're lonely. Does this mean you're one of them? How sick is that? And they also pay these so called "guy friends" to be with them if they are "lonely". WTH

The punishment probably depends on nationality. Asian - imprisonment on the first offence and deportation. Western - could you please go home and change

Chinese hooker at the sheraton - carry on you are doing a good job and everyone in the police applauds you

britexpat

The punishment varies according to the severity of the offence..

At the least, you are admonished and told to cover up. In some instances your picture may be published as part of a name and shame. In the extremne cases, it could be a spanking and a date with a QLer :O(

Zanzibar, I pity you for your sentiments to my kabayan, I feel a great grief over your stupidity and idiotic view of accusing people that you don't really know and doesn't know you. How can you sleep with that? How can you be so alive pointing your finger to others and tell what they are when you know nothing about them??? Is that what makes you so happy? Being IDIOT? I pity you men!!

you are just making accusation. If you are real, take the witness stand.

I can make a lot of wild accusation about Sri Lankans, for what?

So many Sri Lankan laborers working in our site and guess what (no I won't say it, it's bad about what they're saying). So if I were you, stop your wild imaginations about my Kabayans? PI mo.

I'm sorry I thought the sponsorship system existed to fill jobs that are needed by inviting foreigners to come and then to get rid of them when no longer needed. If they were here because they need the job then surely the sponsorship system would be abolished to allow them to come freely without invitation.

offensive. DO NOT generalize as I can also cite your kabayan doing the same thing. But that is when we ever meet.

Dear mozaismyhero, no offense but your post is absolutely out of subject I won't comment the poorness of your arguments, most of the expat are here because they need a job not because they have been invited, of course they are qualified for the job, and having 3 wifes or 2 or 4 is forbidden in somes countries the law doesn't say it is for Qatari as far as I know so stop to be hypocritical, how many men in Europe with one wife and X mistress, if you do not mind let's go back to our subject.

No hard feeling :)

Before I leave I'll just say this. You invite people to come to your country they will have a different culture and traditions to you, you need to respect this also. If you were accepting then as Qatari citizens then you can make different demands.

Gulf Arabs who visit Europe in the summer with say 2 or 3 wives do not get arrested, even though polygamy is illegal in all European countries. Show the same respect for your 'guests'

Well, we have to understand what is disrespectful or not for them and by extension the meaning behind the dress code law regarding the Qatari society.

It's not against expat it is just that for locals it's very offensive to see people wearing in such a way don't forget that it's a muslim country where dress code is very sensitive.

I do understand and I will try not to hurt their feelings.

So many double standards it's hard to know where to start.
