Saeed Jan

It had been raining continuously for almost a week now. Saeed Jan's work was always more cumbersome when it was raining. He was a grave digger and it was difficult to dig the ground for making a new grave when it was raining. But somehow it had never occurred to him that weather made any difference. He knew it was his work and he had to do it whether it was hot or cold, rainy or sunny. He had an extra duty to do as well, when it was raining. He had to visit the newly made grave to ensure that the soft soil dumped over it is not washed away by water.

Saeed Jan had just buried the son of the village cobbler who had  died of some unknown disease the same morning earlier. Whether it was the rain or because the cobbler was too poor and insignificant a man, only eight people had joined the funeral prayer for him, three of them from his family and the fourth one the grave digger.

It was past midnight and Saeed Jan woke up, a little later than usual, and took his latern to visit the newly made grave. As he was coming out of the room, the door squeaked loudly, louder than the heavy rain outside, awakening Kulsoom, his wife. "Get a stick with you, the dogs are nasty", she mumbled tossing on her bed, face down, and went back to sleep.

The first thing Saeed jan noticed on coming out was how cold it was. He walked toward the graveyard. He somehow felt different, kind of apprehensive, almost terrified. He did not understand why he felt so. He kept on walking.

Upon reaching near the grave, he raised the light source he held in his hand. He was thunder-stuck! A person was sitting upon the grave, crouching on it, as if hugging it, without uttering any sound or making any movement.  Saeed Jan was amazed. He instantly thought of so many possibilities. "Is it a human being or another kind? If it is a human being, is it a man or a woman? Or the person alive or dead? Shall I speak to the person? What if it is a monster, a vampire? What if it just turns its face to me, with a face so horrible, that it curds the blood within me? Should I run away?"

First and foremost, this section is a general one. It does not include anything particular. It is my understanding, that we can chat here, in a freestyle manner (of course, not unbridled manner though) and the topics here pertain to a wide range of subjects.

Second, this section is the most easily accessible, so if anyone wants to read a post, they navigate here by default.

Third this is a social website, not a cadet college. Here restrictions are only intended to protect the integrity, reputation and privacy of the site and its viewer--- not for mere restriction. So rather than wasting your time by pointing out which topics relates to what, you had better come up with a genuine comment or post yourself, one which i s purely your own creation and one which is liked by people and draws more viewer to the site (this will please the people and would generate more revenue for the owners of the site).

Fourth, I am neither a poet nor a story teller. I just kill my time by writing random things, and I share it with others because often others are attracted what I write and they like it.

Last but not least, a personal request, please do not comment on my posts any further, unless you have something nice to say. I thank you indeed.
