Is it possible to bring my wife under tourist visa to Qatar and apply for her RP while in Qatar?

I am a US executive with a company in Doha. I have my RP since a few months. I want to bring my wife -who is also US citizen- to join me in Qatar. Two questions:
1- I understand that US citizens can obtain an entry visa at the Doha airport upon arrival. Does she need to apply for or do anything before leaving the US to Qatar?
2- Is it possible and easier to bring her first under the tourist visa and then apply for her Residence Permit under my sponsorship few days after she arrives to Qatar?
Thanks a bunch!

Thank you all for the responses. One more question regarding the attestation of the marriage contract copy. I heard it has to be attested first in our country's embassy (i.e. US embassy in Doha) and second at the Qatari Ministry of External Affairs. Is that true? Is there any other simple way to do that, for instance show the original ...

What does it take to get the visit visa for my wife? Do I have to apply for her visa in Qatar or can she do that at the Qatari embassy in the US? What documents does she need?

you can apply a visit visa for her rather than tourist visa then later on once she arrive here in doha you can apply for her a residence visa.
