Are foreign players in Qatari teams fair?

Here is an interesting article and editorial which speaks about Qatar's practice of hiring foreign players in local teams. The instance was the IHF Super Globe event, where Sadd and El Jaish had several Europeans in their ranks in pursuit of instant glory...

What they do in Qatar is completely not noble or ethical to sportsmanship.

There is nothing wrong with buying players. However, ANY country when they buy players, they actually make them citizens of the country they represent. This is something required by law of any sport.

In Qatar,

ONLY football players they buy get to be citizens of Qatar. Every other sport is dealt with differently. For example if you play any other sport than football, and if you happen to be NON-Qatari, on the national team, they issue you a passport that you CAN NOT use. In fact, you are not allowed even having it on you. The only time you see it is when you are about to travel and the manager of the team shows it to the travel agent/airline/custom agent.

The worst is that no one speaks about it as if it is something normal to do. I like Qatar but it is about time they stand up and follow rules like the rest of the world does.

Also, for the sake of sportsmanship, federations in here are too shameless and they even give fake papers that says an athlete belongs to the army when he/she does not!... why? to compete in army tournaments. Common... this is really not ethical.

Most national teams in Qatar don't have more than 20% real Qatari people on them. It is ok to have a player or 2 that are non Qatari on a Qatari team... but it is funny to have only 1 or 2 that are Qatari!

These days hiring foreign players is everywere ,take the example of IPL and even in national teams they are selected, and it gives a flavor to the team and the best part of it is the local lads gets the opportunity to learn with world class players.

I agree,, Selling and buying is a part of Football League. lets be subjective. Its a subject related to Qatarization, Local Talent and The over all improvement of the country, Money Can buy people who has talent, it takes significant hard work and commitment to get to that level of perfection and talent. I genuinely want Qatar to Improve, Relying only on money ..? My dear Qatar, its a bit difficult to benchmark talent and intelligence. Instead Hire the best coaches around the world and train local players. Its a never ending debate.

To be fair the big footballing nations around the world do it too.

If they were then trying to find ways of getting these players to play for the Qatar national team, then that is wrong.

It's the same everywhere. Do you even watch the premiere league or the Spanish league? Lionel Messi plays for Barcelona (Spanish team) while he's Argentinian and Cristiano Ronaldo plays for Real Madrid while he's Portuguese. These are two of the many endless examples.
