bad experiance at Safari Mall

a very bad experience at Safari Mall... we left our grocery trolly in the locker at 11:50 and went to the food court which is part of the mall to have food........ we were back by 12:15 and the locker was closed.... the guy didnt tell us that the locker is closing in 10 minuts... the mall manager and the staff who were standing right infront of the locker were reluctant to open the room and and give back our trolly because "it is against the safari rule"... the so called customer service manager made a big issue as if i have stolen something from there... i was with my family and kids and had to make this big scandal to get my stuff from the locker for a 15 minuts delay.......where is the ethics and manners....... if they show the same attitude what they are showing to their majority customers who are the poor labourers, we have options....

Why do you complain? There is NO customer service in Qatar. And if you don't like it go to the UAE!

A typical friday evening...my experience:

Drive out from my place to go to a mall at 7 PM. While coming out of my basement parking try to turn (my indicators are on) but none wants to allow me the turn (1). Somehow turn but then immediately someone cuts me on the road from behind (2). While I am driving at 80 kmph in the middle lane someone starts to flash and honk from behind (3). Reach the mall, being single, am denied entry (4) so since not much I can do about it, have to drive out but someone has parked his car right behind mine (5). He comes back after a while and I could drive out. Since, it is already 8PM thought of picking some food, so go to a take away joint but the guy doesnt respond to my honk(6) while he keeps attending to others. Anyway, walk upto the counter but the girl behind isnt quite friendly and keeps me waiting to take my order(7), says it will take 15 minutes but no food in sight and finally it comes after almost 30 mins (8). Finally reach home about 9 PM.

I could have posted 8 threads of what I felt was wrong but dont have time or energy to do so, so put them all in one. Could have spoiled my entire evening cursing and feeling bad about each incident but instead took it in my strid,e came back home and enjoyed my dinner (sheesh tawook) with some nice wine. And yes I know what should have been the right actions on part of all the offenders, but then that is not what I am trying to convey...:)

bunch...

I fully agree with you OP, this was not acceptable. I agree too with your suggestions for the Mall's improvements.

Why does it seem like when anyone has a complaint, everyone takes offence to it?

Get over yourselves...

I guess the CS Manager is in a bad mood or something and poured it out to you.

Don't shop there anymore...there are other supermarkets or malls.

If it was not for us being customers, the trolls would not have a job.

Remember we are the customer,,, so we expect customer service, not the crap they give us.. No good complain to the managers as they are just bigger trolls feeding on the bottom suckers

It is OK...for every incident that happens with us we dont have to jump. You could manage it finally so what is the issue. When I walk out in Qatar I just go hoping for the worst, keeps me happy all the time...:)

Lesson learned in your crusade is that customer service is below par in Safari Mall compared to others (if you have any experience at all).

But instead of complaining at Qatar Living, based on your first instinct, is to think what really happened. If you really felt that you were completely right, as a Customer, then complain at the proper authorities....

If you complain here, 45% of people will sympathize with you, 45% will bash you, while the 10% will make it a joke or hijack the thread...

I agree it was really a bad experience especially when you are with your family.however since it was a very late hour you should have taken the trolley with you to the food court in the lift.....

experience makes a man perfect!!!!!!

If they had annouced the mall is gonna close, do you expect them to come to your table in the food court and give an application to take back your trolley. If you heard the annoucement, what stoppped you from going and collecting your trolley? Be flexible, and stick with the rules wherever you go. Dont expect the mountain to come to you, instead you try to walk over there, so that the life will be easy not only for you but for the others also...15 minutes may be a very less time for you, but it has its own value for the needy one.

even though you are at fault, the wonderful manager helped you ... instead of appreciating him, you are trying to tarnish the mall and staff in the public platform, for not being given a 10Million QAR cash award... for wasting their valuable time....!!!

You dont deserve what they have shown to you. Its too late to change your attitude....!!!

before i asked him "What is the solution"... he was showering me with all filthy words infront of other customer and staff as if i have stolen somthing...

i couldnt bear it anymore and i asked him what is the solution..... coz he was not talking about the solution than bossing on me that i have committed a crime.

its not at all a big deal from their side. the restaurent was open, restaurent is part of their mall. and i was only late by 15 minuts because i had kids who were hungry.

if they have this strict rule that they will not allow to take the trolly out they must >

1. not allow me to deposit my trolly at 11:50 when they are closing at 12.

2. they must announce the baggage counters are closing as well or the token number.

all they announced was the mall is closing and customers have to move to the cash counters.

all these things doesnt give him any authority to misbehave to a customer or humiliate the customer infront of others.

By shahinmusthafa• 22 Sep 2012 10:52
shahinmusthafa

1. i had the token which they provide when we leave the trolly.

2. I had all the receipts of my purchases.

the first thing i said them was "i have my trolly in the counter. can i take it"

the answer was "no u cannot , it is closed".

i dint make an argument.. i show him the token, he ask me for receipts i gave him that also...

still he was not willing to give back my stuff....

ultimately i ask them what is the solution. then he told one staff to open the door and give me the trolly...

after getting back the trolly i told the guy that this is not the way to behave to a customer... he said this is our rule...... i said u must have some ethics on top of rules.... and i walk back.......

in the whole conversation i didnt raise my voice or i didnt behave rude, coz thats not my charecter...

and all the conversation was with the Manager, not with the poor staff who stand in the counter.

You asked him "What is the solution" and he told a staff to open the door and give you the trolley. - Your words.

SO WHAT IS THE FREAKING PROBLEM?!?!?!?!? You wanted a cup of coffee or something from them or a return gift for taking back your trolley?

I'm damp sure that there would have been a major fault with him in dealing issue with the staff. This is a lesson to the guys who are acting as a BIG BOSS wherever they go.Before depositing your stuff at the locker in a such later hour situation, it is your responsibility to check the shop's closing hour, rather than blaming the poor counter boy, who has been standing there sometimes since 8am in the morning. He would have run with his burnt stomach to fill with 2 kobboos. Each and every organization has has got their own working hours and the custmoeres who are in deal with them should be aware of that.If they bent flexible with one person, tomorrow they have to do this with all other custmoers. At the end of the day the staff working there also are a human being like us, let them eat their bread or at least sleep for 5 - 6 hours after this 12AM...!! Hope I didnt hurt you than making a note on realities....

I feel nothing will happen to your grocery, can get it the next day when they are open...

I purchased a McVities Biscuit along with other things they billed three instead of one, i called them when i am back home, but the response to the call was very bad, from my experience the customer service in safari mall is very bad at least they should keep some good manner

he has all the right while they are totally wrong, the managers and the staff are working there and getting paid for the satisfaction of each customer.

They were following the rules and you question their ethics????

If someone hasn't claimed his/her trolley by closing time, you want to wait there the whole night?

Another case of arrogance.

Rules are rules. If you were so stupid not to know the rules or so arrogant to dismiss it and assume that anybody will satisfy your every whim, simply because you're the "CUSTOMER", let this incident change that.

Surely you have realized by now that you have made a fool of yourself standing and complaining by yourself acting like you need to be obeyed more than the Shiekh himself.

Hi,

Certainly not response to your question but indeed. I prefer to shop at Family Food Centre at Airport Road. The are much much organised.

All food stuff vegetables, meat everything is cleaned up and kept. Although you may pay .25 dirhams extra but you get quality of stuff...I have been prefering this since iam in Qatar for my home stuff for last 7 years....

Do visit once there you will find the difference. With reference to your clothing stuff...Lulu Garafaa is the best and rest all electronic items....

This is my timetable....much better to get your self organised better for you and family

Stay god bless...

Regards

Felix Pereira

The staff should of informed you that teh close will happen in 10 minets, he not worry as he not care,, he paid for his work if it good or bad, why worry,, not his shopping. the customer service is ajoke, they wont listen to you as the too flocking scared to put your complaint forward, teh managers are so undertrained,, but in there own minds they are king of teh mall, i would of seen the managment and kicked up a big storm,, and you know what,, the same thing wil happen again tomorrow as the staff to stupid to learn from it yesterday, all teh staf in the malls her are so under classed, they should be back home in the jungle where they belong not walking on 2 feet as customer service. to there.....

You would have gone to the parcel counter before 12 , because Safari Mall closes at 12 am . It is written in the entrance.

perhaps Azi means the Wakra Mega Mart, cos yeah the Doha branch has barely enough space for any deposits.

customers to leave their trolleys at the parcel and trolley deposit sections regardless of where they want to go. No where do they state that it's only for customers buying stuff and not those who have already purchased and wish to go around other sections!

Assuming the story of the OP's to be completely true, then he should have been aware of what times exactly the lockers close. Generally all places have their opening and closing times stated somewhere, so it pays to be informed ahead.

I wonder though why did the customer service guy get all rude? Was there any provocation?

Where can you leave trollies at MegaMart? There doesn't seem to be any space to spare there?

the OP is the customer and in other supermarkets (LULU, C4, megamart, etc) they allow to deposit filled trolleys so the customer could continue to see other sections in the building.

Lulu Hyper, Carrefour, Megamart does that.

However, with the OP's situation, he's also at fault.

He should have:

-checked the business hours before leaving his cart.

-if he has that deposit token and proof/receipt, it wouldn't have caused any problem.

- I think the OP did/said something NOT NICE (I'm only assuming)which made the staff and security hesitant to help.

That's why I am asking the OP, how did you approach the staff about the issue?

By azilana7037• 22 Sep 2012 04:00
azilana7037

It wouldn't be a problem if you have that card token or receipt, that's your stuff so it shouldn't be a problem.

What really did happen? I think you left out something in your story.
