Vampire Facelift

No, It's not our count Dracula, but he could be successful as a doctor.

Sounds a great idea. My question - Would you consider such a procedure or do you prefer getting old gracefully ?

Women are ironing out wrinkles and rejuvenating their skin with injections of their own blood.

The procedure – dubbed the ‘vampire facelift’ – involves taking a blood sample from the patient’s arm and putting it through a machine which separates out the platelets.

These are tiny fragments of cells which circulate in the blood and are filled with hormones and proteins.

They are responsible for making the blood clot when we get a cut or bruise. But also at high concentrations they are thought to stimulate the skin to repair itself. These platelets are then injected into the face.

Taimur Shoaib, a consultant plastic surgeon who offers the treatment in three £400 sessions at his clinic La Belle Forme in Edinburgh, has performed the procedure on several hundred men and women since launching it earlier this year.

He said: ‘It can rejuvenate and repair skin that has environmental damage. It’s good for skin that has been damaged by the sun or smoking and that is dry and damaged and wrinkled. This appeals to people because it’s a natural product.’

Some 28 patients have paid £1,500 for the treatment on Harley Street in London

Not dissimilar to the procedure involving stem cells..

You certainly are not the only one! That sounds really gross to say the least..disgusting really. But seems like a winner among some at least. As for me? I'll stick to eating healthy, shunning the vices, and doing the whole cleanse-moisturize routine, keepin my blood safely in my veins!

Injections of their own blood. Am I the only person who thinks the idea gross?

Sorry not exactly the same but nonetheless similar....something about taking fat from your butt, arms etc mixing it with your own blood and injecting it into your breasts...I don't have all the details but that pretty much sums it up..

Thanks for the honesty. I'm sure that many will consider it. however, currently, the percieved success rate is only about 60%.

By the way, I doubt whether this procedure is applicable to breast augmentation , since it acts more as a rejuvinator :O)

Never in a million years would have thought I would even contemplate this, but as the years move forward and the wrinkles get more pronounced...umm and natural...I don't know...maybe if it was 100 percent safe.

I think living in the middle east, where a lot of women get these procedures and maybe it's because I'm bored out of my wits and have too much time on my hands is a reason I might get this done.

I had seen an advertisement in Dubai a few years back for this same procedure but for a breast augmentation.

Whatever I'm just babbling now
