hey ssup people..... i would be moving shortly to qatar, i just wanna ask if its the same as dubai in the sense that the general feel of dubai to me is just one word ......... " FAKE " ...... there is no depth and there is such a difference between natives and expats and between the financial classes.

lived in both places and yes Dubai can be pretty shallow/superficial. It does also have a cosmopolitan vibe and good real people too. And the rest of the UAE is a much more grounded scene than Dubai. As for Qatar, it used to be a family oriented society with people mostly keeping to themselves. However things are changing swiftly with the influx of foreign cultures/people and the whole place is seeing a transitional phase with both good and bad aspects. They have said they will never be another Dubai but we'll see. The class difference exists in us as a species and the rich and poor always segregate. So much for those who trumpet on about being from the civilized world and being a civilized species. But yes, as LP above said, regardless of his tone/intent, you will feel at home here, for better or for worse. Its what you make of it. Best of luck:-)
