car shampoo application

dear friends,
iam planning to go to uae by road for this eid, one of my friend told me that we should apply a coat of shampoo on front bumber, bonet and side mirrors while going with a car. pls help me to know few things on this?
is it really nessesary to apply this?
if so which one is better, pls tell me the name and where we will get it?
will it chemically react with the paint i mean i am scared wether if my car paint would faint because of this?

Most Car accessory places sell them. Theer is one at the petrol station in Dafna (near Ezdan Towers)
I am sure you can get cheaper in the industrial area.

where do we get car bra how much is it. can i myself apply that on the car?
Its a coating that protects the car from sand storms and thus protects the paint. It works well and does not damamge the paint.
one other option id the "Car-Bra". It is easy to put on and does the same job..
