Need help for my cousin plsss.

Hello,

I joined this site because I wanted to help my cousin. She is a Flipina house maid in Doha. Her contract is about to expire this Feb 2013. She reminded her employer that her contract is about to expire. Well apparently, the employer asked my cousin if she is coming back, she said "No and she wanted to try different country". Employer is not happy with her answer and said that they will not release her passport to her and will just renew her visa for her.

Now, what's the best way for her to do w/o making her boss angry? Will she banned to enter any other GCC country if she will report her employer to the embassy after her contract expires? A way that won't make a dent of her record?

I hope there are other Filipinos can give us any input that way we'll be ready if the battle comes.

Thanks

If she wants to go home the sponsor just has to give her a exit permit to leave. NOC is if she wants to come back to Qatar under a different sponsor to work. I dont see the reason why the present employer should renew the visa/contract if the person does not want to continue working for them.

If her contract expires and she wants to go home, can she still fly home without problem even that her employer won't give her NOC? That is just a scenario I am throwing out at least she'll be ready what to do.

I am so happy with all your responses. That's what I exactly told her to lie just to convince her boss that she's coming back. She just reminded her boss so that her boss will be given ample of time to look for another house maid. My cousin doesn't know what or how long will the process take for her employer to give her an exit permit.

Oh by the way, I am asking any input from any race.

Go to the police and report this situation. It is illegal here in Qatar to keep the passport of their employees.

Go to labor office, not to the Philippine Embassy because they will not help you.

First of all she should take the sponsor to court for ILLEGALLY keeping her passport!! Violating a law of the State of Qatar makes the violator a criminal, hence her sponsor is a criminal. Let the police and the court deal with it.

Sometimes it's better to lie than to tell the truth.

She wants to leave after the contract expires...but the sponsor is not willing to let her go? Then tell him to double her salary or she will not sign the new contract :P

He cant force her to stay after she completes her contract and neither can he keep her passport isn't that the law?

is to for your friend to go to the Embassy and check what are the options available to her and what are the services the Embassy can provide.

However, any actions she does now will only piss off her Employer. If she really wants to leave, then why is she worried that her Employer will be pissed.

The most important thing for her is prevent her employer from knowing what she is doing. If the Employer get to know beforehand, he might just try to prevent her from doing it.

Better to go for annual leave if she did not expect any compensation prior to her leave, nothing to loose. Then don't come back, if she decided to try another GCC Countries. Otherwise, she will be in great trouble if she insist, be dimplomatic and keep on praying for the wisdom for you and to her Boss, as well.

Unfortunately I think it will be difficult to get a solid answer on this problem. I think professional advice is probably the best way forwards. If the employer refuses to release the passport then it places your cousin in a very difficult position, in my view.

Are you expecting answer only from another filipino ?
