This is a difficult one..

A friend got himself into debt playing onlin poker.. He blames the company for allowing him too much flexibility in gambling.

So, my question. Should this type of gambling be banned?

Is it our or the company's fault if we get into debt playing such games ?

You cant take away something from those who have learned to control themselves to have a bit of fun gambling from time to time because of those who cannot control themselves.

Its 100% the gamblers fault.

Many people, including myself like a little gamble from time to time. But we know when to stop.

Like in having guns. There are checks like gun licenses. I want to believe that more checks can stop online gambling. Its easier said than done.

Gambling may have it's benefits, but the evil and loss it causes will always cause far more damage! I come from a family of gamblers..and I've seen first hand the ruin it causes. The euphoria of winning is far less powerful than the calamity of losses.

It's simple, people need to be responsible for their actions.

Well Brit,

Don't you think it is choice?

How to clean the internet?

Many ppl claim to be over 18, then blame the net for what happen to them.

I don't see how more checks work, especially when it simply comes down to the person choses to run his/her life the way they do, then if something goes wrong, wants to blame the company.

Btw, isn't there warnings like on a pack pf cigs about the dangers?

I think there is same warns about gambling leads to addictions, play at your own risk.

Guns in the hands of idiots kill people. So, should there be more checks prior to allowing people to gamble online ?

Guns don't kill people. people kill people!

Don't blame the gun.

hummm just like everything else... Example: No one forces ppl to drink alcohol, or smoke, then these ppl get sick, so why hold a company responsible for gambling.

You are given choices, you chose, you deal with the choice later.

Stop blaming others for your choices you make in life.

he should know when to control himself.

but just as FatimaH said - it is the greediness that leads the person to his own predicament now.

The company never held a gun to his head and forced him to keep playing. His own greed and/or over confidence did.

Bare in mind, I don't condone gambling, just as I don't approve of drinking alcohol, smoking etc. However to solely blame the company manufacturing and/or supplying the said vice makes no sense specially when the person buying it is an adult, and blessed with the ability to conceive and comprehend his/her actions!

when we're talking about the Company. That mean's the one that offers the online gambling?
