Can somebody tell me how i get a good job in doha? i have an American passport and holding a husband visas, with a bachelor degree, speaking 3 languages, having a hard time to find a good job, i post my CV on many website including bayt.com and many more, but didn't get any respond. Thanks.
Let me tell why. Because majority of recruiters in Qatar (also inn GCC) are unprofessional people. They mostly hier their own nationalities (especially South Asian) therefore other nationalities cannot find a job there. I predict that with this situation there will not be a better (productive) future for GCC countries because they do not hire thinking brains UNFORTUNATELY.

tahsinmim, you are a loser and it does not take much to
know that.
Your statements make no sense and you and your idiot friends talk crap all day long while being paid for your daily jobs that you complain that it does not pay much.. wel duhhhh?? pay you for chatting you clown?
my personal experience with bayt.com, they had my cv for a year, and there competitor reedglobal.com had my cv , in a year i got 4 job offers from reedglobal.com and 0 interview or even call from bayte.com all i got from bayte.com we just ads for IT training, that I've had for many years
The owners of this website and similar ones actually get interviews for $$. Of course they do not announce that. The more people that join their website is better for them. Your profile and CV NEVER gets seen no matter how qualified you are. It works like Leads.. They know who is hiring and have direct contacts with them.. Let's just say people within Bayt, know how to make money :)
As to the main question.. Well picture this, You got more than 1.5 billion people's eyes on qatar and most wanna have a job here!... Do you know that companies are scared to post a job online because sometimes their servers get FLOODED and spammed by CVs?
1st of all don't use that site (bayt.com) i never ever header anyone of my friends or colleagues ever got an interview and hardly had there CV viewed, all u get is just a spam of ads.
2nd nationality doesn't matter, it all depends on what job you looking for. for example if you looking for IT job there r fields in IT if you know will get u a job instantly. i guess same thing applies to other jobs as well
owh i see........ well, normally what kind of schools in qatar which offer 'unqualified teachers'? is it private or government schools? if these teachers are not qualified, then how come i see 'demanding requirements' of advertisement in most job sites. something like: they only want 'native english speakers' for the teacher position?
Well...Its a quite a help for me after going through different replies from the fellow forum mates....when i posted few queries about finding a job, i have got only few responses :-(... Now i know fillies are always given preference all over....Welcome to qatar !!!! (:-P)
yes that is the same advice I give to ppl that you got from bayt consultant. Everyone please follow that advice and then see how fast the calls come.
I have edited friends CVs and few weeks later amazing results. One friend though was hard to conveince, but after I changed his CV he is now getting calls even from UAE.
So key words, and professionism on the CV pointing out your achievements, and what you can bring to the company will give you results.
I really identify with your problem here, when I first arrived and found myself in a similar predicament, so I thought I would offer you my 2 cents...
As hshammout11mentioned above get your CV online and searchable on popular jobsites like Bayt among others.
@mimiloves2sing yes I agree getting a good CV is so important! I dint quiet realize it until I had a chance to speak to a career consultant from bayt.com at a job fair. I was told that for my online CV I need to focus on keywords (to make it search friendly) and for my word CV I need to focus on length and information placement. Ideally CV length should not extend more than 3 pages.
Alternatively I also found this super useful checklist on an online group, its from Bayt.com and really helped me organize myself: http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Are-you-looking-job-Download-3177542.S.95825138
I hope this helps, good luck and do let us know how you fare :)
All my interview calls came from Gulftalent or bayt. Because i have a professionally written CV that stands out over the rest, as the interviewer pointed out.
Take time to invest in yourself, and make sure your cv is well written ....to sell yourself to your potential employer on what you can bring to the company vs. just filling a job post with the wrong person.
The whole "education system" in Qatar is flawed! Teachers are hired and registered with the SEC. That's it. No chance for promotion through further studies. You're stuck with what you bring here. And for the monkey salary teachers are paid, you get what you pay for. By the way 10% of Qatar's GDP goes into military expenses, 4% goes into buildings for education (not into education per se).
Explain your accomplishments what you did for the company.
Example: I improved restaurant sales by 20% in just 2 months by using different marketing techniques
just saying you have ex amount of experience and hard worker...anyone can and does say that.
Focus on selling yourself on your CV stand out in terms of what you can positively bring to the company that makes you more desireable then just filling a job.
@ Badu...yeah multi-tasking, something women are good at doing....something monkeys won't understand
@tahsinmim .. Yeah, many told me no vacancies anywhere, market tight here, etc.. Well I have a backup (Trust's Exchange) they had selected me but the payment is less there, so was waiting :3
@mimiloves ... I make separate CVs in terms of design n layout for each company I send. It can happen that I am sending the wrong design to the wrong people :D Will shuffle them once again and see ;)
As everyone says, it comes down to your CV. How is it written?
What is on it reflects if you will capture their attention over the other 1000 CV's they get, does it fill the needs for the post the company has?
Maybe have a your CV reviewed by a professional CV writer....then have them revise it for you using Key words that show what you can do for the company. To Stand out over everyone else with same skills & experience.
Same here :( Not getting any jobs :3 Submitted CV to almost all companies in Qatar.. Nobody's calling me :| Maybe coz I dnt have previous GCC experience o.O
Kat yep very true about the type of work you are experienced in, if the position can be filled local the mindset is.....why hire a American that will want more salary then a different nationality?
Wasta, I have but lol kat i dont have the right wasta so im out of here.
even with a catchy, professional cv it all came down to wrong visa.
lol and they say being American with upon arrival visa is transferable.... ya right....
Can u be my wasta?
It is EASY if you are on husbands rp, just need patience as this is Qatar they move slow in HR, but they get over 100+ applications a day. IF your CV is eye catching and has what they need, you will get a call for interview.
No, not Qatari but a good old Aussie. They offered me a job before I came but it does annoy me people complaining that they can't get a job in someone elses country. Is it easy for Qataris to get jobs in the US?

doha0303, have you found a job? if not, drop me a message. Thanks.
The sad reality is that most teachers currently teaching your very kids here in Qatar are not qualified teacher!
Even you are not qualified so why point fingers at others.
owh i see........ well, normally what kind of schools in qatar which offer 'unqualified teachers'? is it private or government schools? if these teachers are not qualified, then how come i see 'demanding requirements' of advertisement in most job sites. something like: they only want 'native english speakers' for the teacher position?

@mimiloves ... I never thought in that way (selling myself :D) Thank you for this idea :)
And LOL@ monkeys won't understand :D baburao trolled :D
Has nothing to do with the design of the CV
but the words that describe YOU.
What makes you stand out over all the rest?
Why chose YOU?

Hackrishna,
As everyone says, it comes down to your CV.
It is about patience also
Same here :( Not getting any jobs :3 Submitted CV to almost all companies in Qatar..
Yes i am on husband visas, and don't want to transfer my visas to the company that's why i think it's hard for me to get a job. Thanks to all.
Smoke, International/govt/semi govt companies wont accept CV by hand.
QDClover I guess you are not a Qatari and you still have a job! So it’s not always true.
Try visiting the recruitment companies in person. It helps.
also as tahsinmim said..helps sometimes to hand over the CV directly.
I think she's already on her husbands's sponsorship as she mentioned that.
Wasta my child...thats all it takes. Having American passport is of no use if jobs in your field can be filled with cheaper hires. comprende?
Not easy..... unless you have a father's rp
or married to a man who has atleast 10,000r a month salary to be on his rp
Getting interviews are easy with a nice Modern Key Words CV that features your accomplishments....
Getting a visa to work is the problem. I speak from 10 mos experience on this. Best wishes
No I am not qatari, but I can speak Arabic, It's my second language..
Are you Qatari? That may be the answer.
