Crazy Driving
By drivecarefully •
An example of dangerous driving in Qatar. This pic taken in the Birla Public School Signal. You can see that the signal to go left is red. But there were enough vehicles on the lanes for this signal. This guy takes the straight lane at full speed and crosses the divider and stands right in front of the divider.
Please avoid dangerous driving. Be sensible and save lives.
this thing is common these days specially done by the 4*4s (dont know why always them!!!)
once when i was in the lane going straight, the vehicle in front of me all of a sudden slowed nd took a small left nd stood still, (just like the pic shown in this post) blocking my vehicle and also dangerous for me as the vehicle behind me was abt to hit my car....
but alas.... there was no cops to check this and no cameras will flash it!!!
i rest my case
Australians are a superior type of expat, on that we can all agree.
I also agree it would be better for me to be given my licence with my QDC licence. Having to take the eye test was a pain.
you are proving yourself to be a most anal sort..move on please..as for the licence in a biryani comment, there's no need to stereotype, in such a pathetic manner if i may add, other fellow expats. Unless (and i wouldn't put you above that) you somehow consider yourself a cut above other expats. A similar insulting stereotype would be me thinking you got your driver's licence bundled with your QDC licence. Give respect, take respect and just be pleasant around here please.
Correct! Dangerous driving is not just restricted to Qataris. Expats come on QL and complain the fine is too high after admitting to a serious driving offence!
I think most drivers here find their driving licence in a byirani.
Not only Qataris, many expats drive recklessly too.
just FYI, i saw cops at EACH traffic signal from Corniche till Airport today..noting down numbers of cars turning left from the straight heading lanes..i too sometimes just do it since I am no angel, but you might want to be careful now on. I think they could readily dock you like 3k for the offence.
Is that driver Qatari? Then no need to give any excuses, they can do anything they want because its their country. They can even pay any amount of penalty...only poor expats go to the captain to ask for penalty reduction.
My last trip by road to Jordan was in 2007, as since then I never gone on vocation either to Jordan or any other places.
Nevretheless, life in Jordan is getting harder day after day on people who lives in there. In the other hand, if you were a tourist from other countires, then you will only enjoy life in Jordan if you got money.
Best wishes

Thanks Tahsinmim.
Nevertheless, my name is is read in backwards and nick name is RED, and I'm still single, so even if some relatives wnated to call me , they call Abu Ahmad. :P
To: Landloverreview. Well, only in emergency situations this could be allowed and when all signals which for straight or left turn is green. But in this photo the left signal is RED, so the driver could hit any of the cars comming from the other sides and blocking the whole intersection!.
By the way, I was typing to answer you, but it seems you have read my mind before i post this reply to you :P.
Also, I thought your name was Landrover vehicle lover, but I have just read it clearly now! ^_^.
Best wishes

By the way there wont be any accident unless he moves his car further cuz normally these kind of programming is done where we have two lanes turning left.
Few signals turn green altogether I mean towards left and straight, few signals like this signal, Ras abu abood interchange etc first the straight one turns green and then the left one.
People in round about create more problem than this one they turn left from the second or third land...
I think its ok to turn left if all the signals in front are green.
Many times I did this in Ramada Signal when I used to go nearby jarir as if u join from the service road to the main road u dont have any other option to go left unless u go all the straight and make an U-turn from the subway signal.
Of course its insane when you take left turn if the singals towards left are red.
You have the Proof, Go & Report to the Traffic Police..
I bet you won't!!!
Dear, Tahsinmim, I have explained few points in general of what is actually happening on the roads, and what we as drivers face daily in the traffic.
However, showing this topic is a good idea to see what others experiences on the road as drivers. As some could not be on the road as much as others, so they could miss the action!. :P

LOL, yes there is some Qatari people thinking like that.!. :D haha. Nice one Drovers.
Get out of my way infidel,, i am Qatari,, get out my way, get off my roads,, i am king of the road,, i am Qatari...
In this country..if you are driving with qatar national car that is LAND CRUISER, (copy paste of LEXUS & SEQUOIA) you're the king of doha roads..blink-blink your head lights to drive out other vehicle ahead of you impolitely.
Most drivers of this SUV-TRUCK have lots of air pockets in their brain.:)
OP i saw tat man today... and it was his emergency.. so he took a wrong turn. Dont worry he is a nice guy.
IF they had a real police force, and pro active in there duties yes it would get cleaned up.. get western police here,,,, they wont take any shift from any national... but what they have her is traffice round about police, they can stop or go ... no skills to do that,,,, get real police and take off their licence,, find them hard 6,000 for every thing wrong,, jail them,,, clean up the roads,, people say how bad Israel is how bad is the drivers here..look in your own house before commenting on others...
Be alert and responsible while on driving seats :)
Yes dear Suhail, that's true about the mad drivers who chases other cars like almost pushing them to either increase their speed or to jump infront other drivers in the second line.
However, there is many points to discuss, but I have mentioned the most general cases you could find in all streets around the city not just on the high way.
Also, thanks for the information, and for paying attention to my comments.

You forgot the most important issue, which is the sense that some people have that they are above the law.
The speeding cars on the high way, who want you to exceed the legal speed limits, and tailgate you in a very dangerous way. They leave no space between you and them and they blind you with their flashing lights!!!
Dear, Friendlyme, if you focus more on the photo, you could see that the driver is in different line?!, and the pavement in the middle is not for decoration!, Also photoshop has got nothing to do with it!.
Secondly, all traffic signals can't be setup in the same way, as each area has got a different traffic rush, so it's not correct to turn all signals to green at once.
Nevertheless, if the driver had any kind of emergency situation, then he should have used his car signals to draw attention of other drivers, but it's not shown in the photo, so it must be another mad driver breaking the law.
Best wishes

Peace be upon you, and how do you do?.
First of all, thanks for you topic as it's an important subject which needs to be discussed.
However, I have been living in Qatar for 35 years, and had my first driving license on October 1995. Yet driving in the past was much easier and more safe than now, as most of drivers where qualified. But now the roads or even service streets and inside the neighbourhood has become like a racing track!. In the other hand, alot of drivers from different nationalities and ages are speeding up on all kinds of streets neglecting the small space of the street or the other drivers and peoples on thses streets.
Nevertheless, there is a few drivers who is neglecting the law and not respecting rights of other drivers or street users?!. Even with the speed radars which is placed on the high way and other streets and traffic signals around the city, yet some drivers is getting away with their bad actions on the streets.
Although, all drivers or street users must be educated and be self-absorbed before they step on the street. As the traffic police can't put a police man to watch over each driver!.
Finally, there is another source of troubles on streets, which is the driving school cars, as now there is many of them on the streets, and they could block the road or any exit when they are moving like a slow long train relaesed lose on the street. Well, I suggest to build a city out of Doha and to place all driving schools in there, as this could reduce the traffic jam on inside streets and U-turn exits.
Also, not to forget about the green cars, or KARWA Taxi cars, as they are the most users of the streets. Yet there is many Taxi drivers either driving like some amature just got his driving license or like a crazy mad driver..?!. Secondly, any one could notice that most of Karwa drivers have got no idea about Qatar areas, even they are the ones who must know that and to be the most who obey traffic rules.!.
Finally, thanks again for the good topic, and it's my pleasure to comment on it and to read others comments.
Take care and may God bless you.
Best wishes and drive safe.

But I don't know whom I have to be critical here, the driver of the ATV or the Driver who's taking the picture (based on peripheral of the picture). I hope that everyone focuses on driving, instead of taking pictures or looking in other directions.
lol..'that's how we roll homeboy':-)
lol, i like your visualizations Rizk
i think the driver just spilled the Hot karak on his lap while driving so he took a different direction ? :)
he is confused time saving is imp or life saving.... for sure he opted for time..... saving....
Hahahha nice driving
An interesting thought. So the photo is a fake :O(
where's your sense friendlyme. can't you see the red light is in the proper upper portion of the signal light???? check your senses, maybe youe eyes is edited.
Color should be green not red, probably edited using Photoshop. The driver is not color blind I think so.
QDC how its ok for u if his son is sick he is taking the law in his hand endangering other people on the road
The plate is not clear , or could have send to the traffic lol

I like the idea of people taking pictures and posting them of bad driving. Name and shame I say!
excatly what i wanted to say
It's ok, his son was sick and he was in a hurry to get home. Don't judge him too badly.
and I would laugh if the next lights to go green were the ones from his left
He Owns The Road My Dear ... He Owns The 4x4 SUV In Doha
