What our world would have been like if there were no countries no borders and passports, and 1 world government?

I for one would love that cos as it is I am a mess when it comes to origin and ancestry, what with each of parents, grandparents, and great parents all being of totally mixed parentage and origin.

One world with no borders would mean I can say in fact I am truly a citizen of planet earth, something I proclaim even now, but the difference would be I won't get any weird looks!

In any case we are all travelers in this world...would be great to identify ourselves as such and end all the nationality conflicts and patriotic boasting!

However that will not of course be a solution for all of the other trials and calamities that prevail amongst us today. In fact we can then expect a host of new ones cos man being man, will never be able to survive in complete peace and unity...troubles will still arise, crimes and oppression will continue even if we are all supposedly a part of one nation. Such is mankind!

India has 100s of millions of desperatly poor people who would flood out if given the chance of a better life elsewhere. (Something they are denied in India)

However I have learnt something new today, I didn't know calling a geographical piece of land was racist. The dictinonary definintion must have changed.

By happygolucky• 29 Nov 2012 11:51

YH...good to see that you have accepted that it was intervention and not invasion by India. So now the next step to understand the reason why India intervened (not invaded). Simply put, if two fellows are fighting which may affect me, guess I would intervene to safeguard my interest and then it is only an intervention in my interest, not invasion...:)

@happygolucky: Simple answers:

1- It was internal conflict within the state of Pakistan (East and West)

2- India intervened. What they were doing on neighboring country's land? and why? With their army and ammunition?

Whatever words you use, India was in state of war with Pakistan. You are the first Indian who is in the state of denial with this fact.

And you did not comment on this section of the quote "The Bangladesh Liberation War was an armed conflict over a duration of about 9 months, putting East Pakistan and India against the State of Pakistan"

YK...thanks for quoting the wiki. So now let us read it right "The war started on 26 March 1971 between the State of Pakistan and East Pakistan, India intervened on 3 December 1971."....

- the war started by whom and between whom?

- India intervened (not invaded)?

Hope things are clear without writing pages and unnecessarily long arguements....:)

ROFLMAO at some of these replies.

The only reason, from my point of view, that it isn't immediately possible, and would be difficult, is logistics. One government can not manage 7 billion people. You would end up having to create powerful area based governments who would report to the main government, and eventually, you'd end up with countries all over again.

Would be nice to get rid of visas though.

Same to you boss.

Indians have openly declared rather proud to assist Mukti Bahini ("Liberation Army") in 1971. This is not a secret at all.

I can Quote Wiki Pedia "The Bangladesh Liberation War (Bengali: মুক্তিযুদ্ধ Muktijuddho) was an armed conflict over a duration of about 9 months, putting East Pakistan and India against the State of Pakistan. The war started on 26 March 1971 between the State of Pakistan and East Pakistan, India intervened on 3 December 1971. Armed conflict ended on 16 December 1971 and resulted in the secession of East Pakistan, which became the independent nation of Bangladesh."

I think it would probably be peaceful. If we could do away with borders it would mean that we could do away with narrow nationalism and embrace an internationalist identify.

The bigots and racists (who call other nations smelly and poor) would be marginalized to they would be banished in smelly prisons in far away islands.

It is something we should do. There would be chaos to start with as people from poor countries like India would invade the richer ones but eventually it would all balance out and a natural equillibrium would occur.
