Hi Everyone,

My First post here. There's a potential opportunity for me to work in Qatar as a Software Engineer(Oracle PLSQL Developer).

I would like to know some information before proceeding with the opportunity.

As per Initial discussions the company is ready to pay me 10500 QR per month(Including insurance).I need to stay in Qatar on my own.No Accommodation and transportation will not be given by company.

I am planning to shift with my wife(No Kids).

Can anyone please provide me the cost of living in Qatar for a simple life style.

1) Accommodation

2) Food(Vegetarian)

3) Transportation

4) Internet Charges

5) Cable Charges

6) Any other expenses.

I've 6 + years of experience as Oracle developer and Currently getting 8 Lacs INR per annum.
What could be the maximum salary I can get ?

Thanks every one for your suggestions.

I am from India(Hyderabad).

From all the above suggestions I got that its better to get accommodation provided by Company.

I'll ask the HR people when they called me.

Will update after discussing with company people.

As munna bhai is requesting for simple life style and his exp is also less then i think it wud be better for him to spend 5000-6000 qr for his expenses here and the balance to save for himself and casper calculations are near to accurate

dont listen to others, 1700 accommodation for you and your wife is IMPOSSIBLE minimum of 4000 one bedroom apartment. which means 5 is not your minimum saving each month. food not less than 2000, mobile, fuel, and many other expenses. all depend on your life style but you can save only 1 to 2 k per month maximum, 10,000 is less considering your experience.

As soon as you start looking for accommodation , a decent 1 BHK apartment at an average location will cost you no less than 3000 Qatari Riyals (Furnished almost decent ones , not lavish , not posh just an average apartment , that too if you are lucky , you might find it -- I couldn't) , then there are shared apartments where in 2 families share an apartment like in a 2BHK you will get 1 Bed room 1 Kitchen and 1 Bathroom , this may cost at least 2000 Riyals-- But it is a shared one. That's kind of minimum .

Travelling to and fro office , going out on weekend just to a Mall or grocery shopping ) -- Minimum 600 Riyals

For a Family of 2 Food Expenses Monthly--- 1000 Riyals

Internet (if you need it) Monthly --- 250 Riyals

Water and Electricity Monthly --- 150 Riyals

Cell Phone --- Minimum 50 Riyals (if you call ) else no money

So maximum that you can save per month would be around 4000 - 5000 Riyals

That is around 60 - 75 K Indian Rupees per month

There is no tax that you have to pay here on your income. So all this money is yours.

But remember one thing , if you think you will come to Qatar and work for a while and then look for a better job , that might not be possible , Cuz Qatar has some strict employment rules , so it may happen that you will never be able to change your Job while in Qatar. (Just consider this fact)

Once you reach here you may see people with similar expertise and experience earning 2 or 3 times more than what you will be earning.

Life in India is better if you are working in your hometown and have your family , friends relatives around.

Here you might save 60K a month but you only get to go home once a year.

Overall 60K INR saving is not bad , but it is not great if you are already saving 35 - 40 K while working in India.

Hope this helps

All the best dear

You need to ask for family accommodation extra, a two bedroom fully furnished apartment.

The salary offered is LOW. Only take an offer with accommodation as that can be expensive. I am a school teacher and I get more than that.........What nationality are you?? This does affect the offer you are getting.....Not really fair but that the way things work here in Qatar.......some companies will get skilled people but not offer them enough. If they want to hire you, then tell them what you expectations are!!!!

Your salary package is low considering the high standard of living here. Fifty percent of your salary will be just for the rent of a decent family accomodation. Without free housing your salary is peanuts.

Dont you think 10 k is a very low salary for a 6 years experienced Software engineer.
