Moving to Doha from Dubai
Hi,
We are a family of 3 (couple + toddler) planning to move to Doha within this year. Can someone help us with replies to our below queries? (i saw a post asking similar questions 6 years ago but am wondering whether the answers still hold good):
1. I have a 4x4 & a valid UAE license - is it valid in Qatar ? How soon can I transfer a UAE license to Qatari license? Is it worth bringing my 4x4 to Doha - what are the costs involved?
2. Which is a good area to live with my family at a reasonable cost.
3. Is it essential to bring all the furniture that we have?
4. How much will it cost to move from Dubai to Doha and what are the costs involved (average)?
Thanks

Hi Guys
Thanks a lot for the responses.
My car is 2010 model. Can someone tell me what will be the duty at border etc? I got a quote to move my car for AED 1500. But I don't know whether there are any additional charges.
Recently I heard that I can take delivery of my furnitures, shipped from Dubai to Doha, only after I get my Resident Permit stamped in Doha! Is it true?
Please respond.
I have just moved from Abu Dhabi to Doha and I am still settling and sorting things out
1- You can get a Qatar driving licence by submitting your UAE one . This can be done once you get you visa stamped and your Qatar ID. There is a form that needs to be filled , get an eye che up ad a letter from your sponsor "NOC". As for you car if it is a new one then it is worth getting it exported to Doha. I have a 2012 model car so I just completed the formalities from Abu dhabi and used a company , currently waiting for my car to arrive. Will cost you approximately around 4000 Dhs in total RTA export certificate + shipping (500+ 3500 ). Your car gets exempt from custo charges if it is less than 2 years old.
2- Really depends on your budget. I am still looking around but there a few decent areas like Ar Rayan, Madinat Khalifa , Al Dafna with reasonable properties.
3- It is preferable to sell your furniture before coming. There are many properties which are fully furnished. Otherwise get your furniture from here.
4- cost of moving depends on your company- do they provide moving tickets, re location allowance and when you arrive where will you live.
Please feel free to ask any more questions
You can get your 4x4, UAE License is easily transferable to Qatar License.

Dont bring your furniture better sell it in UAE.
