Over-the-top exterior and interior décor, awkwardly dim lightening and location that not everyone would like to visit. Having confidence in Qatar's food ministry's strict inspection regime though, anyone who wishes to experience what everyday Pakistani household eat should visit Sara restaurant. It is as close to home cooking as any restaurant can be. They are offering what no other restaurant is, a good mix of meat, vegetables, grains and lentils. Even Nan bread comes with a choice of brown or white. Speciality dishes such as Nihari (beef shanks cooked on low heat) or Paya(Goat hooves cooked on low heat) are not upto the mark. However home cooking style meat curry with vegetables, or vegetarian options, or barbeque items are very very good. I fall in love with this restaurant because I can find delicious Pulao(rice cooked in broth) here. Everyone does Biryani, very few can do good Pulao. Karela (bitter gourd, Baingan ka bhurta(smoked grilled eggplant mash), Saag(Mustard & other greens) you can not find such food anywhere else or not just as good. World economic crisis however dictates that delicious broth offered as starter is no longer complimentary.
It was recommended to me by a Belgian who was introduced to this restaurant by an Italian so those who can differentiate good food frequent this place. If you can not stand the décor have some take away. 3 stars for food and 4th one for service.
