Doha: The Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior organized the second discussion forum for companies working in the Industrial area on Sunday, November 3, 2013. The forum titled 'together against crime' was aimed at raising security awareness of these companies and improving their skills in detecting the fraudsters and in cooperation with security agencies in the country.

The lecture was held as part of the Department's plan to contain the crime with the participation of police and the community.

The forum was attended by Lt. Col. Sultan Al-Kaabi, head of Community Policing Section at Rayyan Security Department, Maj. Khalifa Mohammed Al-Atiyya, head of Rayyan Investigation, Eng. Saud Ali Al-Tamimi, director of Road Projects Department at Ashghal (Public Works Authority) and Jabir Ali Al-Marri from Inspection and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Labour.

Welcoming the audience Maj. Khalifa Mohammed Al-Attiya said that Ministry of Interior is keen in building a real partnership with companies in the Industrial Area in order to ensure safety and lessen crimes. For that, the Ministry understands the importance of connection with the companies to comprehend the hurdles and difficulties faced by them and to find out proper solutions for them with aim of sustainable growth of the area to keep pace with Qatar Vision 2030.

The head of Criminal Investigation Section at Rayyan Security presented security related things the companies should take care of. He urged the company representatives to use proper and strong locking systems for different facilities of the companies to prevent theft. He reminded the importance of appointing well trained security watchman who can handle any emergency situation stressing on the importance of installing surveillance cameras inside and outside the facilities.

As well, he asked to report any suspicious vehicles or activities noticed by them and urged the residents to keep their ID's while going out. The attendants were asked to contact criminal investigation sections of different security departments (Capital – 66819393, Shamal- 66817474, South – 66819595, Dukhan- 66831212, Rayyan-66817373) in case required.

Lt. Sultan Al-Kaabi explained about the concept of community policing which calls for permanent partnership between police and the community members and civil institutions.

Eng. Saud Ali Al-Tamimi commended the role the Ministry of Interior in maintaining security and order in the community and for its close cooperation with different ministries and authorities in the country including the Ashghal in terms of traffic, road and tunnels specially in the Industrial Area.

He pointed that the State has allocated 4 billion Riyals for the development of the Industrial Area which will be spent over 6 stages. The first stage is development of the old Industrial Area which costs 1.3 billion Riyals with aim to make the Industrial Area as an integrated area with modern infrastructure

While the old industrial area is being modernized, it is urgent for the Municipality to install make shift temporary washrooms in the old industrial area, esp. street number 10, where thousands of people walk on foot.
