Katara announced the hosting of the third Traditional Dhow Festival 2013, from 19 to 23 November, under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of state of Qatar.

The festival is held in cooperation with the Qatar Museums Authority as the leading festival specialized in maritime heritage in the region
and the world.

The announcement of (Fath El-Kheir) trip launch, which is one of the most prominent events emanating from the unique festival, is to revive ancestral heritage in traveling and navigating through the world by sailing and preserve this kind of legacy.

This trip will begin on 22 November 2013 from Katara Beach sailing to its first station in the Kingdom of Bahrain, then heading to Saudi Arabia and to Kuwait, after that to Oman, then navigate to the United Arab Emirates, and finally leaving UAE to reach Doha on December 18 to participate in the Qatar National Day celebrations, crossing the estimated distance of 856 nautical miles.
