Gratuity
Dear Sir,
My husband has been working in Qatar for the same company, for 10 years and 7 months now. The company is about to close down, and I would appreciate your help on the following:
1. How much notice period does he have to give them? One month or two? and is it obligatory to give them two months' notice?
2. Can they deny him his gratuity? Can they cancel his iqamah and apartment rent and make him leave Qatar without paying him his gratuity?
3. Is the gratuity calculated based on the basic salary only or the accomodation allowance also?
4. Can they deny him an NOC, even after more than 10 years of employment?
Thank you so much for taking the time to help us. Please advise if you think it is better to hire an attorney.
Regards,
Niddo
Everyone paid with cash, or possibly a check, for everything, everywhere. However, we now live in the credit and debit card age and are heading for cellular payments, but one should always make an effort to tip waiters with cash whenever we can. Notice period is maximum 45-60 days
Gratuity is based on Basic Salary (Effective from 5 Jan 2005) one year equal to 21 days salary.
NOC depend upon company.
