Loyalty Star Medal for Expatriates
Qatar's impressive journey from one of the poorest to one of the richest countries, has successfully completed with the help and hard work of expatriate community alongside the locals commitment.
Time has now come to give a recognition to the prominent expatriates who excelled in their field, and have all along been living in the country for over 25 years.
This recognition (thank you) can happen by evaluating their performance, contribution towards the country's progress and their loyalty in shape of keeping their residence in Qatar for so many long years, despite all the hardships.
A loyalty medal would allow their next generations also to keep contributing positively for the greater progress of the country, thus recognizing them as valuable asset.
A Govt. level committee can shortlist some of such people and award them "Loyalty Star Medal" with some prize on annual basis.
This small and simple gesture would also effectively counter the Western arguments regarding expatriates.

measure of qatars progress: once upon a time, qatar didnt have its one currency so it used indian rupees for trade.... today 1 qatari riyal is approx 18 indian rupees.... thats progress...

Do u really think that there was NO Qatari hard work involved in the equation at all and that all of the hard work came from expats side???....All u can say for locals contribution is "Commitment"!!??? SERIOUSLY!!!
I'll be awaiting ur answer, having said that, yes I do agree that hard working long term expats who contributed to this country deserve every form of recognition even beyond the simple medal.
P.S. Just to clarify…Even before the riches and fame Qatar was no “Poor Country”…It was rich and now richer.
Good suggestion by Rizks, no one will stay longer here for the sake of gold medals. Many are already on pipeline to return back due to day by day increasing criterias for family RP's, when this is relaxed, hope many would think about longer stay and for the so called gold medals. Besides, there are expat drivers who have not done a single accident during their 20 or more years stay, what appreciation they deserved ?

That would be a good preparation for the next generation.
If workers get their salaries in time and end of service benefits paid by employers, they will return home with fond memories of Qatar which they can pass on to the next generation. That would be the best medal they could get from being in the middle east. Can Equi state how many expat workers get to complete 25 years of stay in Qatar? One may be able to count them on the fingers.
brit: i am obliged:-)..with great humility, i accept the Emporium karak. The achievement certificate you can give to Sulie for being in Qatar only a while and already having set up a group hugging club:-)

to carry on with the fantasy, the criteria should include 25 years and fluency in Arabic. Many people spend a lifetime here and can't say hello in Arabic. Too tough or just don't bother. I have been in the Middle East my whole life, and yet I am given a 5/10 score by Arabs when I ask them to rate my fluency. Needless to say, I am ashamed, considering that Arabic, to me, is a most compelling language:-)

Expatriates also includes businessmen, industrialists, bankers, consultants, managers, company owners and so on. The positive benefits of LSM (Loyalty Star Medal) would be enormous, as that would also integrate the expatriate next generations, and if some advantages in tax or govt. services allowed to them, that would mean a gradual and strong integration on long term basis.

I think, the main issue first to be sorted is to pay them their salaries on time and later think about the medals and other prizes etc.
Equi, I appreciate your thoughts for recognising sincere efforts by expats ...... but if you think to counter outsiders' views with it .... that's not possible ... they'll bring up another issue .......
