need help ( regarding rental value )

Hi,
It's my first topic here so let me say Hi to my self :D
I just saw an excellent apartment with a very good price but the thing is they want the 12 month rental value before signing the contract
Is that normal ??
How could I be sure that they are not cons :/
any help is highly appreciated

Estate agents want payment for 12 months before they sign the contract for renting out a residential place. The payment is usually made through post-dated cheques for each month with usually a cheque dated around the first week of the month. The of payment date varies from agent to agent. It is the general practice here. You should not pay them the total amount all together even if they insist.
