I am an electrical engineer and I did the exam yesterday and most of the questions were really tough and you need to be prepared before taking the exam.It is not straightforward exam.
Things to remembers :
1- If you fail the exam,don't panic , you still have another chance.
2- There are about 27 questions and the pass mark is 13 at least out of 27.
3- Study all your college subjects and get ready for challenge.

That was not an easy exam, as ive said you have to be a wide reader and try to recall your electrical engineering subjects tackeled during your college days. Be a wide reader try to read all the topics because you will never know what will be the topic of the exam. I wish you all the luck my friend.
when I took the exam, the majority of the questions were from electronics, conditions of transformers, project management, and some electrical problems such as nortons theorem etc. but my advise to you, you better be a wide reader because the questions I think came from a huge baskets of questions and randomly picked up by the system that you will use during exam. Be a wide reader and prepare early this is not an easy exam...

1 Valid Qatari ID card
2 Notarized qualificatiions certificates by Foreign Ministry in Doha.
3 Experience certificates certified by commpetent parties and by Foreign Ministry in Doha.
4 Good conduct certifiicate issued by the State of Qatar.
5 Fill in the attached engineer spreadsheeet.
6 Copy of passport.

i went to their MMUP office today morning. showed my printed application. The person there asked what is my application status. I said I dont know as my PRO just told to visit here. Then he asked my username and password n checked my status there itself n said its still under process. Then he instructed me to keep checking the status until next thursday and if it doesnt updat til then and i dont get any mail or meassage, then just come agai on next thursday n he will take my documents regardless of the online application status.
i came to my office n passed the info to my PRO but he said he doesnt see any option to check my status. so may be i wil come to know only if get a message and mail from MMUP.
The best thing to do, go to MMUP Office (Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning) in front of the City Center Mall on Wednesday, before 9am. They will tell you your next move. Thanks

You are right. I checked with company PRO, he says the same thing. However, I am going to baladiya office tomorrow just to check whats the time they accept certificates and if I need an experience letter for present company in qatar.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I think you do not an experienced certificate if it is you present employer because in your QID it is already indicated there your profession and company name. If previous employer you have to present an experienced certificate.

Thanks to everyone, who have posted useful information above. There is new requirement, I would like to update that even if one is having Qatar experience certificate that he has to go for Qatar chamber stamping and MOFAA Qatar (relocated near British, Turkish embassy).
The baladiya office is in front of the city center mall. The building name is Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning. The only accept applicants every Wednesday. You have to be there before 9AM. Bring all your documents (attested by MOFA). Then, they will tell you to go to 9th floor. If you don't have a Police Clearance (Qatar) yet, they will give you a endorsement letter. You will take this letter together with your country Police Clearance (also attested by MOFA) to the CID in Salwa road to secure a Police Clearance.
Now, I just finished attesting my documents in MOFA. Next week I will go to baladiya.

They will verify your application and than issue you one application letter in Arabic and they will tell you to submit in Supreme education council and upon submission SEC will issue 2 new form one English and one Arabic you have to fill English form and send it to your university along with degree certificate all are scan copy via email.Till date I have not submitted to my university.
You have to submit application form in the name of MMUP regarding addition of your university name in their list inARABIC.Submit that application along with photocopy of your DEGREE certificate and last year marksheet attested from MOFA.All submission will be in MMUP WESTBAY office.They will tell you to come after 25 days to meet them in this REGARD.

Hi prac_proff, as of now, you can take the exam examination without PRC licence. But, I heard that soon they will implement that a PRC licence will be an initial requirement before any evaluation takes place. I just don't know how SOON. :)

msj786 - if university is not listed then u approach the counter 15 in mmup office west bay.they will ask u to go to 9th floor.they said to me to go to SEC OFFICE in ground floor(from entrance right side) on C ring road near toyoto signal.you have to provide attested mark sheets of engg,10th,12th board exam.After that they will ask u to fill one form in arabic and ask u to send data waiver forms given by sec to your university officials and cc to technical specialist of SeC(which sec will provide).then technical specialist will mail set of questions to email ids of university officials.the university will have to reply on their official mail id to sec officials which should show the name and designation of the official.If the unioversity does not have official mail id then it will have to mail scanned copy of the document on official letter head.
Experience certificate from Dubai has to be signed by authorized signatory whose name appears in the Dubai chamber of commerce list.in India it has to be attested by foreign affairs and Qatar embassy.
The advantage of b certificate will be B certificate holders will command more salary. Clients will insist that they need A& B certificate holders for their projects.

I think you are just to get it from your employer and then attest it at your embassy and that's all. If the experience certificate is from a company in Qatar, then there's no need to attest it

Heard that visa will not be renewed without engineer registration.After submitting documents online(not more than 4MB) original documents have to be taken and shown at baladiya office for verification hence only online submission is not enough.
@ Super B. It is requirement of Baladiya/QCDD that you are a registered engineer here in Qatar before you can endorsed a building plan. It would depend on your specialty/profession. Like in my case, I am a Mechanical Engineer, they require that you submit the mechanical plans of building together with the certificate of the engineer endorsing the plan. It a must if you are working in a consultin office. If you are in contracting company, I don't think that it would be necessary to be a registered engineer.
@Blackbird4 Correct! You need to show your QID in post office and tahey will ask one copy of you ID and you need to fill up and sign a paper.

@Blackbird4 First of all, you've gotta have an activated Hukoomi account. If you have, good for you. If you don't have, then you need to register first. Here's the process:
1. Go to Hukoomi website http://portal.www.gov.qa/wps/portal/homepage
2. Click register
3. Input you Qatar ID number, mobile#, email and all related personal infos.
4. They will send you an email stating that you need to go to post office to activate you account.
5. That's it!You have an activated Hukoom account. Your log-in is you QID no. and make sure you remember your password.
Now, in order for you to find the MMUP listed univisties, all you have to do is to follow the step by step procedure from the word doc (MMUP process to upload.docx) given by rambo31. What is you email? I can forward it you if you want.

Super B-In English version you cannot view approved list of universities, only in Arabic. Benefits of registration-I heard it is going to be compulsory and decree has been issued.

I don't know about the qualifications that you're talking about since it is job-specific, but what I could tell you is that in order to complete your test in MMUP and get your certificate:
A- Your university has to be on the approved list of universities at the MMUP, otherwise you'd have to bring the required paperwork in order to certify it (by yourself).
B- In order to apply, you have to have an ID number (Or residence permit number) which you don't currently possess on your visit visa.
That being said, my guess is that you will make this test after getting the job on a work visa.
As a correction to the above by melwins14 who gave a very detailed and accurate description of the process, the grading system is currently as follows:
Grade A: More than 10 years of experience
Grade B: Between 7 to 10 years
Grade C: Between 2 to 7 years
Trainee: From 0 to 2 years
The years have to be certified in order to count (except if they are spent in Qatar).

2 Grading - Experience less than 5 years C grade, 5-9 B grade and above 10 years Grade A
Check for University listing
1 Approach UPDA office located opposite City center and enquire in counter number 17/18 to verify your certificate for listing
2 If your university/ institution is not listed you can approach Qatar Job Qualification centre on C- Ring Road near Gulf Cinema with a letter from company and need to follow further procedure as per Supreme council of Higher education to enroll the university in the approved list of UPDA
Attestation Requirements
1 You should have your degree certificate attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar (QR 10/- per certificate by card payment) before for which you require Notary, HR, Qatar Embassy (India/ country you belongs) attestation etc. from India (better to go through some attestation centre - they charge QR 400 - 500 per certificate)
2 Any experience certificate other than from Qatar has to be attested by Ministry of Foreign affairs, Qatar for which you have to follow the attestation procedure as explained in item 3
Police Clearance
1 You have to obtain a PCC from your Embassy in Qatar and this also to be attested in MFA
Submission
1 Once you have your attested certificates and experience certificates and PCC you can go to MMUP Ground Floor (Opposite City Centre) and show in Counter (17/18 -last one) - Only on Monday and Thursday.
2 They will issue a letter to Qatar CID (on Salwa Road) and you have to go there with this letter and PCC, fill an application form and submit there for their Police Clearance which you will get within 2 weeks time.
3 Once you get this you have to fill the application MMUP forms, either in Arabic or English ( I have attached them as new form 1&2) and submit along with your CV (showing qualifications, job summary, certifications etc.), the original certificates, mark list, experience certificates, PCC, ID copy, PP copy, copy of other certificates etc., one photograph with copies of all the documents (1 set) and a CD containing all the scanned copies of all these documents (refer attachment PEC docs required)
4 These documents are to be submitted in a file (better to put in plastic folders and then file it)
5 They will verify the documents and will accept it everything is okay, or will comment to rectify. They will keep all the documents and will return them only on the day of exam (after exam).
6 Once the application is accepted, they will give a date for the exam over phone (on Wednesdays only)
7 The exam is computer based (Multiple choice) and will have 25 question to be answered in 1 hr.
8 There is no syllabus available, few questions will be general and balance technical.
9 There is no idea on the minimum mark. May be they combine mark + experience + certificates etc.
10 You will know the result on the same day and will get the original certificates back.
11 You have to take oath, pay the fee and collect the Grade certificate (valid for two years)

UPDA Exam and 20+ Multi national Engineers
MME conducts UPDA exam to those, who are all working under Engineer visa, as well as for others working under different Visa categories but holding engineering bachelor degree with valid QID. Probably more than 20 country Engineers are attending this exam. Each country has different engineering syllabus and text books.

I am an electrical engineer and I did the exam yesterday and most of the questions were really tough and you need to be prepared before taking the exam.It is not straightforward exam.
Things to remembers :
1- If you fail the exam,don't panic , you still have another chance.
2- There are about 27 questions and the pass mark is 13 at least out of 27.
3- Study all your college subjects and get ready for challenge.

Fortunately yes, i passed the exam with Class C certification. That was not an easy exam, as ive said you have to be a wide reader and try to recall your electrical engineering subjects tackeled during your college days. Be a wide reader try to read all the topics because you will never know what will be the topic of the exam. I wish you all the luck my friend.

when I took the exam, the majority of the questions were from electronics, conditions of transformers, project management, and some electrical problems such as nortons theorem etc. but my advise to you, you better be a wide reader because the questions I think came from a huge baskets of questions and randomly picked up by the system that you will use during exam. Be a wide reader and prepare early this is not an easy exam...

I went to MMUP Office today. I supposed to present all my requirements but they told me to Upload it all Online. Then, I ask where to get this letter to present to CID to get a Police Clearance. They say that it is available online in the Baladiya Website. I am sharing this to everyone so not to waste your time going there.

@annts8 Of course they will reject. It is clearly indicated in the Engineer Registration Application Form the following requirements:
1 Valid Qatari ID card
2 Notarized qualificatiions certificates by Foreign Ministry in Doha.
3 Experience certificates certified by commpetent parties and by Foreign Ministry in Doha.
4 Good conduct certifiicate issued by the State of Qatar.
5 Fill in the attached engineer spreadsheeet.
6 Copy of passport.
7 Curriculum Vitae.
8 Training courses.
9 Letter issued by Ministry of Labor staating that applicant doesn’t work at any overnmental bodies or ministries or at any public entities (for Qataris only)
10 Any other data or documents.

i went to their MMUP office today morning. showed my printed application. The person there asked what is my application status. I said I dont know as my PRO just told to visit here. Then he asked my username and password n checked my status there itself n said its still under process. Then he instructed me to keep checking the status until next thursday and if it doesnt updat til then and i dont get any mail or meassage, then just come agai on next thursday n he will take my documents regardless of the online application status.
i came to my office n passed the info to my PRO but he said he doesnt see any option to check my status. so may be i wil come to know only if get a message and mail from MMUP.
So I wil be going thr next thursday
The best thing to do, go to MMUP Office (Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning) in front of the City Center Mall on Wednesday, before 9am. They will tell you your next move. Thanks

You are right. I checked with company PRO, he says the same thing. However, I am going to baladiya office tomorrow just to check whats the time they accept certificates and if I need an experience letter for present company in qatar.
I will update tomorrow once I am back.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I think you do not an experienced certificate if it is you present employer because in your QID it is already indicated there your profession and company name. If previous employer you have to present an experienced certificate.

The baladiya office is in front of the city center mall. The building name is Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning. The only accept applicants every Wednesday. You have to be there before 9AM. Bring all your documents (attested by MOFA). Then, they will tell you to go to 9th floor. If you don't have a Police Clearance (Qatar) yet, they will give you a endorsement letter. You will take this letter together with your country Police Clearance (also attested by MOFA) to the CID in Salwa road to secure a Police Clearance.
Now, I just finished attesting my documents in MOFA. Next week I will go to baladiya.

You have to submit application form in the name of MMUP regarding addition of your university name in their list inARABIC.Submit that application along with photocopy of your DEGREE certificate and last year marksheet attested from MOFA.All submission will be in MMUP WESTBAY office.They will tell you to come after 25 days to meet them in this REGARD.

the grading system is currently as follows:
Grade A: More than 10 years of experience
Grade B: Between 7 to 10 years
Grade C: Between 2 to 7 years
Trainee: From 0 to 2 years

Hi prac_proff, as of now, you can take the exam examination without PRC licence. But, I heard that soon they will implement that a PRC licence will be an initial requirement before any evaluation takes place. I just don't know how SOON. :)

msj786 - if university is not listed then u approach the counter 15 in mmup office west bay.they will ask u to go to 9th floor.they said to me to go to SEC OFFICE in ground floor(from entrance right side) on C ring road near toyoto signal.you have to provide attested mark sheets of engg,10th,12th board exam.After that they will ask u to fill one form in arabic and ask u to send data waiver forms given by sec to your university officials and cc to technical specialist of SeC(which sec will provide).then technical specialist will mail set of questions to email ids of university officials.the university will have to reply on their official mail id to sec officials which should show the name and designation of the official.If the unioversity does not have official mail id then it will have to mail scanned copy of the document on official letter head.

Experience certificate from Dubai has to be signed by authorized signatory whose name appears in the Dubai chamber of commerce list.in India it has to be attested by foreign affairs and Qatar embassy.
The advantage of b certificate will be B certificate holders will command more salary. Clients will insist that they need A& B certificate holders for their projects.

I think you are just to get it from your employer and then attest it at your embassy and that's all. If the experience certificate is from a company in Qatar, then there's no need to attest it

Heard that visa will not be renewed without engineer registration.After submitting documents online(not more than 4MB) original documents have to be taken and shown at baladiya office for verification hence only online submission is not enough.

@ Super B. It is requirement of Baladiya/QCDD that you are a registered engineer here in Qatar before you can endorsed a building plan. It would depend on your specialty/profession. Like in my case, I am a Mechanical Engineer, they require that you submit the mechanical plans of building together with the certificate of the engineer endorsing the plan. It a must if you are working in a consultin office. If you are in contracting company, I don't think that it would be necessary to be a registered engineer.
@Blackbird4 Correct! You need to show your QID in post office and tahey will ask one copy of you ID and you need to fill up and sign a paper.

@Blackbird4 First of all, you've gotta have an activated Hukoomi account. If you have, good for you. If you don't have, then you need to register first. Here's the process:
1. Go to Hukoomi website http://portal.www.gov.qa/wps/portal/homepage
2. Click register
3. Input you Qatar ID number, mobile#, email and all related personal infos.
4. They will send you an email stating that you need to go to post office to activate you account.
5. That's it!You have an activated Hukoom account. Your log-in is you QID no. and make sure you remember your password.
Now, in order for you to find the MMUP listed univisties, all you have to do is to follow the step by step procedure from the word doc (MMUP process to upload.docx) given by rambo31. What is you email? I can forward it you if you want.

Btw, I just passed the test yesterday having 6 years of experience with a Grade C certificate.
I don't know about the qualifications that you're talking about since it is job-specific, but what I could tell you is that in order to complete your test in MMUP and get your certificate:
A- Your university has to be on the approved list of universities at the MMUP, otherwise you'd have to bring the required paperwork in order to certify it (by yourself).
B- In order to apply, you have to have an ID number (Or residence permit number) which you don't currently possess on your visit visa.
That being said, my guess is that you will make this test after getting the job on a work visa.
As a correction to the above by melwins14 who gave a very detailed and accurate description of the process, the grading system is currently as follows:

have come for visit visa in qatar and looking for a job in design field.My course was in manufacturing technology (2 year course).While my bachelors was in mechanical stream production engineering from kerala university.Today I attended an interview in mechanical design consultants in qatar and during my interview I could find my qualification was not relevant and my qualification cant be accepted in any engineering & consultancy office here in Qatar and if employed they cannot employ you as an engineer.further to my enquiry they told me as per Law no.19/2005, in consultancy and engineering offices must work only engineers certified by Ministry of Municipality and Urban planning.My degree was 1 4 year course and there is a mechanical engineering equivalency certification provided by Kerala university.Could ull please advise me regarding on this mater.I am mainly looking on for design jobs and I am having 2 years experience in India as design engineer in an MNC.My vist visa period ends within 3 months and I want to get through this issue.The employer had given me a promise that if I have the bring him this relevant qualification then he would hire me.Please advise on this.

2 Grading - Experience less than 5 years C grade, 5-9 B grade and above 10 years Grade A

1 Approach UPDA office located opposite City center and enquire in counter number 17/18 to verify your certificate for listing
2 If your university/ institution is not listed you can approach Qatar Job Qualification centre on C- Ring Road near Gulf Cinema with a letter from company and need to follow further procedure as per Supreme council of Higher education to enroll the university in the approved list of UPDA
Attestation Requirements
1 You should have your degree certificate attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar (QR 10/- per certificate by card payment) before for which you require Notary, HR, Qatar Embassy (India/ country you belongs) attestation etc. from India (better to go through some attestation centre - they charge QR 400 - 500 per certificate)
2 Any experience certificate other than from Qatar has to be attested by Ministry of Foreign affairs, Qatar for which you have to follow the attestation procedure as explained in item 3
Police Clearance
1 You have to obtain a PCC from your Embassy in Qatar and this also to be attested in MFA
Submission
1 Once you have your attested certificates and experience certificates and PCC you can go to MMUP Ground Floor (Opposite City Centre) and show in Counter (17/18 -last one) - Only on Monday and Thursday.
2 They will issue a letter to Qatar CID (on Salwa Road) and you have to go there with this letter and PCC, fill an application form and submit there for their Police Clearance which you will get within 2 weeks time.
3 Once you get this you have to fill the application MMUP forms, either in Arabic or English ( I have attached them as new form 1&2) and submit along with your CV (showing qualifications, job summary, certifications etc.), the original certificates, mark list, experience certificates, PCC, ID copy, PP copy, copy of other certificates etc., one photograph with copies of all the documents (1 set) and a CD containing all the scanned copies of all these documents (refer attachment PEC docs required)
4 These documents are to be submitted in a file (better to put in plastic folders and then file it)
5 They will verify the documents and will accept it everything is okay, or will comment to rectify. They will keep all the documents and will return them only on the day of exam (after exam).
6 Once the application is accepted, they will give a date for the exam over phone (on Wednesdays only)
7 The exam is computer based (Multiple choice) and will have 25 question to be answered in 1 hr.
8 There is no syllabus available, few questions will be general and balance technical.
9 There is no idea on the minimum mark. May be they combine mark + experience + certificates etc.
10 You will know the result on the same day and will get the original certificates back.
11 You have to take oath, pay the fee and collect the Grade certificate (valid for two years)
