offer with Ashghal
Hi,
I am civil engineer with 15.5yrs experice. I am in early stage discussions with ashghal for a vacancy with them. I am being offered 22k including OT and bonus + villa. Could anybody out there working or worked with Ashghal help me with the following:
1)is salary figure fixed for particular range of experience?
2)They are saying 1yr rolling contract (do they have history of indiscreitionay firing of people?) - is it risky considering that I have a decent permanent job
3)will there be hike (even nominal) every year or you are struck at whatever salary you enter
4)what is the perception about ashghal employees in the open market - I mean does it add any value to CV or would they lose value as they are working for govt agency?
5) what are the chances of getting jobs in finance for my wife (coomerce grad with 15yrs exp)

The salary is bit low.. Ask fir 26 t0 30 k.. I m almost half of ur experience but my salary is alil less than wat u r offered.. usually jobs at ashghal are secured but their managements sucks... I dnt know abt ur career gial but its gonna look very bad on ur cv if u apply in future to any onsite or technical post. It will look ok if u r applying to project management jobs... I think u shud negotiate the package nd avail it..
As far as Ashghal is concern then they are the most unorganized government organization in Qatar.Always abuses its employees by deducting allowances such as lab safety and others.Benefit is for nationals only.No increment in pay roll if you work there for your whole life.
