60 percent of Qatari teens are obese
A recent study by a group of Qatar University students has revealed new data on the alarmingly high prevalence of obesity among Qatari adolescents.
The large cross-sectional study involving a total of 1,167 female and male students (14-20 years) from 23 independent schools showed that 59.9 percent of Qatari adolescents were obese and 57 percent overweight against 40.1 percent and 43 percent of non-Qataris.
The study by Lyan Akhal and Haya Al Ali also showed that the waist — hip ratio, a well-known risk factor for non-communicable diseases, was significantly higher among girls than boys.
The results showed that sedentary behaviour was relatively high whereas the level of physical activity was extremely low.
Moreover, the combination of sedentary behaviour and the consumption of foods high in fat and sugar had a great impact on the sample group’s body mass index (BMI), waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio.
Results showed that staircase use, walking and household activities were the most common activities.
Watching TV — a common sedentary behaviour — was very common among Qatari adolescents compared to non-Qataris.
Consumption of fruit, vegetable and milk was higher among non-Qatari males compared to the rest of the sample.

I've personally enjoyed helping people to overcome obesity, I've tried a program with food supplements and it worked for me, the people around me started to ask me about it, so they got the results as well, it is healthy as well as no side effects hence these are herbals and through stages not just with a normal or extensive diet system.
If I was a maid here with a crying baby, of course the first thing I would do is shove a treat in its mouth. The second thing I would do is plonk it in front of a DVD so I can get some peace.
It's really not that surprising that there are so many obese people here with that sort of upbringing.
Obesity will be followed by Diabetes and other health risks. The main reason for obesity must be the consumption of fast food in the region. Carry on, upsize and the society will pay for it in near future. Hope someone will take note soon.
That's right Thelonius, especially when almost all of the Qatari Parents don't do any parenting at all! they leave them to the maids to raise and never pay attention to their well being or even encourage sport activities
