Qatar’s top Indian schools close admissions early
Parents seeking admission for their children in Indian schools in Qatar may have a hard time ahead following the Supreme Education Council's (SEC) call for decreasing the number of students in a classroom.
Those looking for seats in older grades will be particularly hit as schools scramble to find a way to bring down the number of students in each class to around 30, sources said.
Many of these schools have more than 40 students in a class now.
Some of the schools that used to accept students until early April have already closed admissions for the next academic year starting from April.
In an effort to improve the quality of education and children’s safety, the SEC has asked all schools to reduce the number of students in each class to manageable levels to maintain a healthy student-teacher ratio.
This will, in effect, result in denial of admission to many unless the schools find a solution, such as finding new premises soon.
Three leading Indian schools that have more than 5,000 students each are likely to be affected the most.
MES Indian School, Qatar’s largest expatriate school, with around 10,000 students and Ideal Indian School and Birla Public School with above 5,000 each, will not be able to accept more students unless they find new premises.
Though there are about 11 Indian schools in Qatar it is highly unlikely that they will be able to meet the demand from the growing Indian population in the country.

Take heart folks! Reliable sources inform that there is a new International School with Indian CBSE curriculum opening in Qatar this April. It is led by UK trained and internationally experienced team of NRIs and Caucasian UK experts. The school will use the IB's 'enquiry methodology of teaching' for a CBSE curriculum. Admissions will open only early March as they are now setting up the school premises. It is of world class quality at affordable fees. If you need more info you can write to this email: [email protected].
I support quality over quantity ......

Lisha - Try in other schools too. There is Birla and Ideal as well.
The answer is simple:
Don't bring family or utilize Home Schooling
I too experienced it since I just came back from India and was seeking admission for my 41/2 year old son. My best wishes to all parents who are looking to place their children in good schools. I still havent been lucky with my little one's admission though.Tried DPS but they are full too. I dont know if he will ever get admissions this year. Its so scary and stressful situation. So many kids are going to be denied education because of this sudden change. Very worried.Suggest any schools if anyone knows can be helpful! :(
You do have to wonder if this last minute decision to dramatically reduce the class sizes (and therefore close schools to further admissions) isn't, as Thelonius suggests, an overt attempt to discourage workers from bringing families to Qatar.
Very true Thelonius .
