Crime hits Doha

An outlet of a leading pharmacy in Musheireb was robbed on Saturday.

The incident comes close on the heels of the theft at the office of a prominent travel agency on B-Ring Road in the Najma area on Wednesday.

Sources said thieves broke into the pharmacy in the wee hours and escaped with the cash kept at the counter.

There is no information of any other loss.

Police are investigating the incident and the footage of the theft recorded by a camera installed at a neighbouring clinic has been collected by the investigators.

The thieves were apparently wearing masks during the “operation”.

Meanwhile, community sources said there has been a rise in the number of thefts in several parts of the city, particularly incidents of windowpanes of parked vehicles being broken by miscreants, some of them in broad daylight.

On Friday, a resident said that one of the rear side windows of his car was broken while it was parked in Al Sadd.

A week earlier, a similar incident was reported from the same parking. Source: Gulf Times | Photo: Mass Gov

What do you think about the crime situation in Doha? Have you ever had any bad experiences?

Its just unfortunate things like these is springing up in Qatar that has been viewed as one of the most safest place on earth. There is no need arguing and pointing accusing fingers at a set of people. what we fail to realize is that every group or set of people has the good likewise the bad ones. No group of people is exclusive to crime commission. I have the belief that those perpetrating such negative acts will be apprehended by the police.

They all have it...what makes Doha different. ! It was different before cause it was empty..now its full and you don't know who you're hiring..Some of them could be serial killers that no one found in their own countries and they moved to Doha now looking for the next victim ! Funny isnt it while crying not to call all africans as criminals someone goes ahead and brands all Indians ('they') as corrupt, unexposed, greedy and uneducated. As an aside if Indians are so, why are Africans lining up to get into India and once there (obviously by mistake) why dont they want to leave and live amongst honest, educated, expose and moderates. Thoughts!

Well in my opinion census of people that has perpetrated evil in this town has not shown they are Africans, the dailies show majority of the people involved in illegal businesses here in qatar are Asians moreover that what you get wen u put incompetent people in places .....The monopolization of Qatar on indians is the problem they are corrupt, unexposed, greedy and uneducated....

There is no country which has all population as criminals in the world.

There are good and bad people, I hope you all read news about What happened in Saudi Arabia when police try to evacuate illegal people in a colony where 90% were Africans.

They started attacking even the police. Then finally Army manage to get them custody.

I think itsmerat wasn't saying that most Africans are criminals.

He was saying that most criminals are Africans.

Dear Abiodun ....: I think you are misunderstood.. I am not against Africans, also I have many Friends from Kenya too.

I apologies if you felt my words against a race or something like that.. and now you have no right to say 'shut up' to me since I am having the right to express my suggestions. yes I am learning things I will learn till my death...everyone is learning.

@ itsmerat....

or whatever you may be called, See I am a Nigerian and before coming down here, I have had lot of encounter with Indians. I have been to Bombay for clothing business. See lot of countries in Africa are far better than where you came from. For the fact that some Africans decided to change horizon by coming here to see what life is all about those mean you should open your mouth and say trash. you are an example of Indians that behave as if Qatar is your motherland and where as you can never be given passport of the country. so please shut up your mouth and watch how men handle issues while you learn like a growing boy.

Itsmerat..

I careless about news papers I am talking based on this article do not generalize. Are you an investigator. If what you are saying is true Africans would have been stopped from coming to this country. I told you nicely to Google countries... not news... Calling Africa a country is a punishable mistake..

I am praying these criminals should be caught. I love peace for real.

God bless Qatar and may peace continue to reign !

Have a good day itsmerat..

Most of the time the Gulf Times and The Peninsula cover stories about crime, the culprits are Asian, not African, which is to be expected since the majority of the population here are from Asia.

How many stories can you show me about criminals from Africa?

Dear Mayeka, I know Africa is not a country but a continent. By free visa I mean, its really easy to get visa approval for African nationals.

I think you should read news papers too rather than only Gooooooooogling... Crime rates in Qatar increased after the arrival of Africans and the culprits caught here in criminal cases are mainly African nationals. I am not against Africans and I also have many Friends from Kenya. But we have to accept the fact and you have to read news paper rather than goooooooogling....

itsmerat...

Is Africa a country??. What do you mean by free visa?? This exposes how ignorant you are. Please if you were not taught in school kindly Google out information before you talk.

We need to fight this crime in Doha and Qatar as a whole . A criminal is a criminal no matter where he or she comes from..

These thieves will be caught for sure.

Peace

Peace.
