Moving to Qatar

Hi, My wife has has got a job in doha and I'm currently looking for employment. If I don't get a job by the time we move over, will I be allowed to stay on her visa?

We are getting quite worried about it now and can't seem to find any information or someone to talk to.

Thanks in advance for any feedback

Hi Craig, first of all ignore Molten Metal Full stop the guy is a waste of space and judging by his comments pretty illiterate... We have several friends in Qatar with us that are in a similar situation to yourself, They are here working full time (Sponsored) but there husbands are here on visit visa's. It depends on your Nationality, if like myself and my wife you're British than you automatically get a 1 month Tourist Visa upon entry, then at the end of the month you can pop into immigration next to the airport and get a 1 month extension on your visit Visa, at the end of the second month you have to take a trip out to Dubai or Bahrain call it 1 hour 15 minutes round trip you simply arrive in the airport and turn around and leave this has to be done in order to start your visa again ultimately just resets it for you. At this point you have another 1 month on your visa again which can be extended for a further month at the end of the month from the immigration desk next to the airport. Call it 100 Riyals in the immigration desk, 100 riyals upon every airport entry in Qatar and your flight to Bahrain could be 800 riyals return or less i have seen cheaper flights. So if your an expat wanting to spend time with your wife than the cost isn't such a burden and within this time you will surely be able to find some reasonable work. I would say drop me an email i could possibly speak to a few places that i have worked at, and still work part time teaching English in language centers it will keep you busy and they generally sort out your sponsor and visa process. You may not have to leave Qatar they may provide you with a business visa. I don't want to post my email on here due to pathetic retards like molten metal so just try your best to click my screen name and drop me your email and possibly we can have chat to ease your nerves before you come over. You might be thinking why is he being so helpful, Its simple i went thru the same process and it was a nightmare not having the information or anybody to help.. Also post what your background and Qualifications are etc just to give a bit more of an idea as to what type of work you would be eligible for etc. Best of luck

I think, it is better to involve the employer of your wife to help you let in with your wife on a family visa. Going by the formalities, even a visit visa has to be obtained for you by your wife. To do that she will have to meet certain prerequisites like the minimum salary requirement, at least 3 months of bank statements (meaning you'll have to wait for at least 3 months after your wife arrives in Qatar and opens a bank account), tenancy contract etc. Tourist and business visas are other alternatives but tourist visa is expensive and is for a very small duration where as business visa can only be obtained by a registered business organization.

you can go with your wife on a visit visa and once you found work, your employer can get you a work visa.
