Philips Ambilight 10 Years Old
To celebrate a decade of its Ambilight technology Philips is releasing 3 new Ambilight TVs.
Starting at $2,799 for the 42-inch, $2,999 for the 47-inch and $3,599 for the 52-inch, each set uses Philips Pixel Perfect HD engine which apparently can better match pixels in the image to those on the display, and that, coupled with the new 120Hz refresh rate, should see picture quality significantly improved. The 42-inch set has full Ambilight surround lighting, while the two larger displays have 2-channel Ambilight.
Couple this with Philips' new Ambisound home theater system (HTS8100). With its SoundBar piece it creates a full 5.1 surround-sound experience through a one-piece fully integrated home theater system.
Only 5 inches thick, the Ambisound SoundBar provides an amplifier and a DVD player all in a single design.
