Restaurant review: Shanghai Garden Chinese Restaurant at Citi Center
This evening I and Jammy tried out the new restaurant at the back of the Cinema at Citi Center near Applebees and Coffee Cottage.
MEAL: Buffet
COST: QAR 49.00 per person
FINDINGS: The buffet was a lot of veggies and nothing much. The hot food was cold. It's the first chinese buffet I've encountered that's without dimsum. There was omelette with tomatoes (isn't this Italian style?). The chinese omelette I know is with celery, bell peppers, ham or chicken or lobster or shrimp or pork pieces or my favorite oyster omelette or oyster cake.
The bun wasn't tasty and the fried bun was hard (It's supposed to be crispy outside and soft inside!) The spicy crabs weren't spicy and the crabs looked like they need more time on the sea to be big enough to eat. There was breaded fried chicken (don't they have that in McDonald's or the fastfood nearby?). The fried rice had a texture that it was left over white rice 3 days ago and was hurriedly turned into plahy lahys.
There was duck and beef that tasted so... so... No chinese cold cuts....
The dessert choices were hard. (I mean, you can use them to hit somebody yards away!) And forget the cakes because the sponge cake was really like a sponge - a 3M sponge!
Oh, all the softdrinks you can drink though goes with the 49 riyals (there goes my blood sugar)!
VERDICT: It was a total waste of my 49 riyals! If they continue like this I say they won't last till December.
