Brian Arkinstall, the Consul at the Canadian Embassy in Kuwait will be travelling to Doha Qatar to meet with consular clients from October 4 to October 6, 2010.
Drop-in sessions have been established for Canadian citizens who require Consular services. Appointments are not being taken.
October 4
. 13:00 - 17:00 - Sheraton Doha Hotel - down the stairs besides QNB bank, near the Al-Khor ballroom (for more details contact the Consular section). Look for the area full of sofas, the Consul will be seated there.
October 5
. 08:30 - 12:30 - College of the North Atlantic. This session is intended for Canadian staff and students, and their dependants, of the College of the North Atlantic.

October 6

Canadians who are unable to attend any of these sessions and who need to meet with the Consul should forward an email to the Consular Section of the Canadian Embassy in Kuwait at [email protected].
Services to be provided at drop-in sessions:
1. Authentications.
a. Police clearance affidavits (passport + citizenship card/Canadian birth certificate required). Note: any police forms from Canada must be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) before the Consul can authenticate them.
b. Certifying Power of Attorney documents.
c. Certification of (ONLY) documents that bear either the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Qatar, or the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT).
2. Screening of Passport and Citizenship applications. Please note: complete application must be forwarded to the Embassy directly by the client.
3. Responding to general questions regarding Registration Of Canadians Abroad (ROCA) and Consular services available to Canadians.
Clients requiring an authentication service (e.g. police clearance, or certification of a document) must pay for the service when it is provided. Payment can only be accepted by bank draft. Cash, credit cards and personal cheques are not/not accepted.
Please ensure:
- Bank draft is made out to "THE RECEIVER GENERAL FOR CANADA"
- Bank draft is in Canadian Dollars
- Please advise the bank that the bank draft must be drawn on a Canadian bank account (from one of their subsidiaries) with a Canadian address. E.g. QNB deals with Canada Trust in Toronto. HSBC deals with their own sister banks in Toronto. Commercial Bank deals with a subsidiary in Toronto as well.
Service Fees:
. CAD $50 for each signature for the authentication of documents (including police certificate).
. CAD $20 for a certified true copy of a document (please note documents must be previously certified by DFAIT or MFA Qatar in order to qualify for this service).
