SCH warn consumers not to use 'Spanish Fly' products
The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) yesterday warned against the use of any pharmaceutical products of ‘Spanish Fly’ (an aphrodisiac product), which could lead to health problems.
The SCH’s Pharmacy and Drug Control Department in a statement said ‘Spanish Fly’ is not registered as pharmaceutical products with the SCH.
According to the SCH, products of ‘Spanish Fly’ causes health problems, including abortion, irritation in the urinary tract, severe harm to the kidneys and frequent urination in addition to its adverse effect on the digestive system.
It said ‘Spanish Fly’ has a psychological impact which leads to restlessness and loss of consciousness and heavy doses can lead to death.
The SCH also warned against importing or trading in the products in the country.
