New "Yellow" taxis takes to the roads in Qatar

QatarNews
By QatarNews

Yellow-roofed taxis are expected to hit the roads tomorrow as Profit Group, the third private taxi operator in Qatar, launches.

Under the brand name “Cars”, the company will start its operations with a fleet of 50 taxis only, the Peninsula reported.

The taxis also carry the Karwa brand name and meet the requirements set by public transport company Mowasalat.

Last January, Mowasalat, which operates Karwa taxis, had signed contracts with the Profit Group and Ibin Ajayan Trading Group for the two companies to launch 500 taxis each by the year-end.

Al Million and Al Ijarah are the other two private companies operating taxis in a franchise agreement with Mowasalat.

CEO of Profit Group, Abdulla Sultan Al Sabbagh, said that the company will start with 50 taxis and expand its fleet to 500 in phases.

The plan is to add 50 taxis every week until the targeted is achieved.

Do you regularly struggle to find a taxi?

empty roaming taxi should be banned. they should all park in designated places all over Qatar waiting for a call and only use the road when with a customer and/or going to/from a designated taxi waiting /parking area.

mauvesquee : you are worried more about Karwa Taxies, Before you ride please make sure to keep a little ( Morethan 200 m is okay ) distance from Karwa taxi's and if Karwa is following your car God can only help you and carefully change the lanes , At round abouts Karwa taxi will not Slow down like we do so be careful .

What motivated me to get a driving license are the Karwa taxi drivers. Most of them are really annoying, not knowing where to go, using the longer route to get more money, wants to negotiate on the meter whether to turn it on or not, smelly, can't speak english well, etc etc etc. Even now that I drive my own car, these taxis are really annoying, they don't use indicators, some are speedy, some are way too slow, some change lanes abruptly without indicators, etc etc etc. The list goes on. I don't get why another company tried to get a franchise.

Road works, lots of empty taxis roaming around and hence more traffic stalls, rash driving by most karwa taxi drivers...Happy Driving Residents !!!

yesss!!!!! we do struggle so hard to find a taxi and after finding the taxi we have to argue with taxi drivers because they only move around their specific areas only not where we wana go. or its their lunch/dinner break or they finish their job and going home. you know the results if you complain about them :D :P
