International driving licence.
By Muhammed Danish •
Dear All,
What is the procedure to get a international driving licence from india for the one who is coming here with a tourist visa and staying for 1 month.
Expecting advices from someone knowledgeable.
Thanks in Advance.
Getting back dated license is impossible at metros since they are following automated process/software, Non metro locations wont help the purpose. 10 year without major case is justified I think.
Is it difficult to get a back dated Indian license just to meet this unjustified 10 year period requirement ? ..... ..................... Friday, 26.09.2014, 11.29 hrs
If you are not a resident of Metro city, (i.e. if you are from small town or village) or if your driving license is not 10 years or if you have records of major accident in the past you can not have international driving license. International license is issued to personal vehicle category only in India and not commercial or cab driving category license holders.
Almost in all Indian metros there is "Motor vehicles" department office from where normal licenses are issued. There you have to buy an application form for International license mentioning your passport no. This is the basic procedure, though different state demands for different more docs (Like in Kolkata they want your license to be aged 10 years or more without any major case). After a few days and payment of a little fee (again different at different state) the international license is issued against deposition of the national one. Some countries honour Indian international license and some countries do not. I do not know whether Qatar govt. honours or not.
