These outlets were shut down for violating food law
Several food outlets have been closed for selling expired food and not following hygiene rules while preparing food in Doha, reports The Peninsula.
The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning said some of the closures were ordered by Mohammed Ahmed Al Sayed, Director of Doha Municipality, after inspections of the premises.
The outlets included a hot bread bakery and a restaurant in the Old Airport Area that were found to be selling food that had gone bad and preparing food in unhygienic conditions.
The shops will remain closed for at least 15 days and open after rectifying the violations.
A Manama Food Mart supermarket was ordered shut by Al Zaayen Municipality for 14 days for violating rules and standards of handling food items, something that risked consumers' life, officials said.
The Al Rayyan Municipality Director, Saeed Rashid Al Nuaimi, ordered the closure of Green Supermarket in East Industrial Street for 15 days for selling expired food.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Thani, Director, Umm Salal Municipality, issued a decision to close down Samosa Al Shamali shop for 10 days after inspectors found that its staff were preparing food in unhygienic conditions.
New Al Khaleej Restaurant in Al Wakra and Al Safir Turkish restaurant in Al Wakra were ordered closed for 10 days.
The policy of naming and shaming outlets that cheat or sell expired products was started by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce after a request from the Central Municipal Council.
Last month, Marmara Istanbul Restaurant was closed for two months after customers suffered from food poisoning.
I hope they will also shutdown company who violates the law.
