Doha wins right to host 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championship
Doha has been awarded the right to host the World Championships in Athletics in 2019, one of the largest sporting events in the world, it was announced in Monaco today.
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) confirmed Qatar's capital city had won the bidding competition:
“Doha was selected to host the 2019 IAAF World Championships… Doha (QAT) was selected over Barcelona (ESP) and Eugene (USA) for the right to host the 17th edition of the IAAF World Championships.”
The event will run for a week and regularly attracts nearly 2,000 athletes, in addition to hundreds more coaches, media and organisers.
Qatar Olympic Committee’s senior adviser, Aphrodite Moschoudi, confirmed the event would be staged from September 28 to October 6, when “the temperature in Doha at this time of year is no different to several recent world championships.”

According to Doha’s winning bid, the World Championships in Athletics in 2019 will be focused around Khalifa International Stadium, which is currently being renovated, and the Qatar National Convention Center.
Doha was the favourite to win hosting duties for the event. Beijing will host in 2015 and London in 2017.
In 2011, the IAAF awarded London the 2017 World Championships, beating Doha in a head-to-head contest. [Arabian Business]

Really hoping that the 2019 and 2022 events will now pave way for real reforms in the country. Its really wonderful that Qatar has won the rights to hold these events. Change is coming and it has to come....Mabrook again.
I would like to Congratulate Qatar as a Nation for not only winning the Host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup but also the Host of the 2019 IAAF World Championship as well. Having said that Qatar has become the most talked about country in the Middle East or even in the world for its contribution to the world of Sports. Yet i feel that the effort put in to provide the expats (Majority of the population) the right to have a better life in Qatar (NOC) has not lived up to its expectation and if Qatar wants to shine on the world stage they have to start first at home. when people are happy work gets done faster and with higher productivity..... I hope the Ministries and Government officials concern will see this page and take in to account how much People are looking forward to secure a better living standard in a country not their own but have come to love and care about ----- Just think about it !!
