The price for replacement of the vibrator at CarMax is extremely high. Try out the garages recommended by the QLers, I am sure you could get the job done at a better price.
That won'tprice seems extremely high for replacement labor. If you are close to Industrial Area, try Sarmad at Summerland Maintenance Garage on Street 18. It is located on the south end of Street 18. Affordable, friendly and fast.
My A/C was working perfectly till i reach my office, while returning back home, it was not cooling at all. So i went to one of the garage in matar Qadeem, he checked and told me to replace the evaporator, some bad odour was comming when i use to switch on the AC. Then he told me to fill up some gas and check how many days it will remain. Then again it started giving bad odour inside the car. So he confirmed it has leakage in Evaporator :(
The next evening i went to CarMax he said he will charge 1000 labour charge to change. Then i said ok and i went to toyota showroom and bought the staff... which cost me around 1600 QR. After returning back to car max shop he told me that i have to pay 1800 instead of 1000 riyals. I dont know the reason why he added 800 riyals extra.
So i thought of checking in this community for some good suggestions, as i dont want to get cheated like this.

Any time there is a problem with the A/C compressor, the evaporator should also be changed. In fact it is required to do this for warranty coverage on replacement compressors. The reason is that when a compressor fails it will allow debris to enter the cooling system (metal shavings) and if the evaporator is not changed as well as inline filter and flushing the entire system, you will have a very short lived new compressor. Evaporators aren't expensive, and are not hard to replace.

Yes, Rafeeq you are right. That is why I was surprised as to why the person wanted to replace the A/C evaporator. I believe all that it needs is just servicing to remove the dust that has clogged it up.
My suggestion. Don't believe the mechanics words. If you visit 5 garage, the 5 opinion would be different. Normally to check the leakage the garages may charge 500Qrs.
Before the winter, I noticed my SUVs gas is leaking in a slow rate. I had posted a thread looking the same issue. That was at the winter time. Many garage found to replace evaporator and cost me nearly 2500Qrs..!! I left it unattended until the winter is over.
Last month, I visited a local shop to change engine oil and filter. At that time, I asked them to find any leakage in the system. I said I don't know whats the issue. They checked everything carefully. Noticed, the heat pump is leaking at the metal edge..!!!!!
Finished the task for 350Qrs..!!!!
So, I recommend the same shop in Barwa Village near Waseef Office. Same side of the Waseef/ Country RAC/Bike Shops. Yellow color board adjacent to the building passage. He is an old person. Pakistan National.

Almost all workshops that do A/c work in Sinaiyah should be able to it. By the way, why do you want to replace the evaporator? It is a part that rarely gets replaced unless it has been damaged in an accident.
