Am here in Qatar for past 4 months and I've been trying for job since then but the result is really frustrating and depressing.

I've got an engineering degree with electronics and communication as specialization.Am finding it difficult to get a job with my qualification.

I had sent my CV to several companies but no response and no luck.

Can anyone please help or advice me on this.

@US2Qatar, Google "Job Consultants in Qatar" "Recruitment Consultants in Qatar" you will find link for qataronlinedirectory. Browse that page and call and visit. There are many international ones as well like Reed, Bayt, Mihneti...

If you need a job through website, then you will have to market your CV by registering with them. Registeration will ofcourse include some fee. But, that is necessary to increase chances of getting a job. Naukrigulf, Timesjobs, Monster, gulfjobs and many hundred other websites.

Another option would be to follow projects in Qatar. read about them and try to find out who is getting projects here in Qatar. Keep ears and eyes open. Once you get into the habit of keeping a track on projects it will be really helpful for you to track down the agencies that are supplying manpower to contractors. Go to the actual site of project and talk to people there...But dont throw your CV on their face the very first time..get to know them and ask for contacts...know who can do what for you.. Make some friends on linkedin, twitter and likes and be social.

Above all be confident and don't give up until there is no other option but to go back. Best of Luck!

Whilst I wish everyone luck, I do feel sorry that people go through all these headaches. Many come here thinking the streets are lined with gold and end up depressed and broke.

Please don't come here without ba job.

Morane, thank you for providing different options for people who are looking for jobs. At least they can go to the website which you mentioned and register themselves. If you know the names of a few consultants like you mentioned, please share that for others as well so the jobseekers can seek their assistance as well.

Masin, Do you mind sharing your experience with others. I see a lot of people struggling here to find a job. Other than having personal contacts with internal employees (which not everyone has), what else can a jobseeker do to increase his/her chances? Which option works best? I know in the US, there are a few websites which are the primary source for jobseekers and employers and there are also some known recruiting companies, but not sure what works here.

It's sad to see so many people coming here with big hope of finding a job and desperately try everything that they can to find a job, but can't find a job and end up leaving. Perhaps because they are not looking at the right place. So it would be great help for those jobseekers if someone who has been here for long time and understands the Qatar's employment system can guide them toward the right direction i.e. names of the websites which works, names of the job consulting offices, etc.

Find your place in a business.... nobody wants college degrees until it and itz holder suits to build a successful business.

I am also a EC graduate, and alhamdulillah I found job within a month.

There are few things you can do since you are here in Qatar:

1- Go to Job Consultant offices. There are many. Try covering atleast 5 each day. Submit your CV. Companies mostly here hire people either from consultants (local/International) or from references.

2- Go to Naukrigulf.com and get your CV prepared and marketed. They will charge some fee for that but that will be very beneficial.

3- Do some freelancing work in the mean time. Meet people and communicate. The more you will meet people the more are the chances of landing a job.
