Leather / Rexine / Cloth Car seats
Hi,
A quick advice from experts. Keeping in my extreme summer temperatures of Qatar, what is the recommended car seat materials to be used, considering car to be kept open without shade whole day. Presently I use Rexine for protecting my car seats and its getting very hot if kept outside for few hours.
All my below listed options have advantages/ disadvantages
1) Leather - Very Expensive , Gets heated as well and develops cracks due to outdoor heat. Easy to clean and maintain.
2) Rexine - Cheap option, gets heated very fast (not good for health)and rigidity getting lost and becoming loose after some months. Easy to clean and maintain.
3) Cloth - Cheap and best option, does not get heated that much even after keeping it outside for long hours, but considering children, seats gets dirty and difficult to clean.
4) Clear plastic on cloth seats - I don't have experience about this option, but I think this plastic also gets heated up if kept outside.
Considering above scenarios, what is the best car seat material to be used for long term usage and easy maintenance and of course should be economical.
Seat covers made from cloth could be the only alternative and I agree that they do tend to get dirty. However, you may wish to follow a simple trick that could keep temperatures inside your car somewhat down. Just roll down the glass windows of all doors of your vehicle when the car is parked leaving a gap of around 2 to 3 millimeters in each window. This would allow for cross currents of air to flow through your car, keeping down temperature by some degrees.
The strange thing is that you hardlky ever see seat covers being used in the West.
Anyway, in answer to your question, cloth seats with cloth seat covers are probably your best option given the temperatures in this country.
reasoning behind providing seat covers is to protect original seat fabric from becoming dirty and ease of maintenance, when small children accompany in the car. Children eat drink and play in car and chances are damaging car seat fabric is more which cannot be easily cleaned regularly if not protected by car seat covers.
I never understood why people are using creme on their skin. They are growing old anyway.
