Car dealer fined QR50,000 for violating consumer law
An auto dealer was fined QR50,000 by a Doha misdemeanour court for violating the consumer protection law, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.
The dealer violated his obligations to the customer by not abiding by the terms and conditions of the warranty period of a new vehicle sold to the customer, according to the court.
The customer had sent the under-warranty vehicle to the dealer's service centre after a sudden breakdown.
However, the dealer had failed to repair the car within the 15-day period stipulated in the law and had not provided the customer with an alternative vehicle either.
Accordingly, the customer took the issue to the Consumer Protection Department. Arrayah did not mention the name of the auto dealer. [Gulf Times]
Yessss EXACTLY Company X was found in misdemeanor act, be careful dealing with this company and BTW the name of Company X is confidential!!! Very well done!
What is the rule here for under-warranty vehicles ? Should the dealer has to provide an alternative car ? Even one day as usual periotic service? Where can i get all those information ?
@britexpat Too true. Now what will happen public will assume all dealers are bad. Thanks Gulf Times.
Gulf Times protecting the dealer and making a mockery of good reporting
Wild in most cases Exactly! Sponsors just collect the earnings.
That means the sponsor has no influence and control of what happens in his name, right? That's a bit easy, I guess. In any other case the sponsor IS responsible for the actions of the sponsored person.
Roy just for your information all the staff are expats and no Qatari would work for the dealer , so stop playing the victim and realized that the wrong doing is also by an Expat.
if it was an expatriate, then for sure we can see here his "Picture" as well with govt officials standing right next to him ;)
The Qatari sponsor MUST be protected.
@urstrulyash Exactly, name and shame is needed. Then a public apology and fire employees that were root cause of the issue. That's how business should be done. It's not going to damage the brand as such because many vehicle manufacturers have had controversy's and bounced back.
Some dealers simply do not respect their customers enough. Even when safety issues are not taken seriously could lead to fatality or physical injury. Always check your vin number on non Qatar manufacturers websites, for recall repairs. Even if car is old it's still eligible for recall repair free of charge.
whats the point of all these news without the dealer info?
