So have you visited the cinema near you?
Hello again. First of all, I’m sorry for being a day late with this preview package. Real life called and the ‘Internet vigilante of good movies’ had to take the call.
Plus it would’ve been so much simpler had there been some way to know about the change of movies at least a day in advance. Sigh. Without further ado, here’re the list of new movies for the week.
1. Mad Max: Fury Road
Cast: Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult
Genre: Action
Director: George Miller
I didn’t think I would say this so close after Fast and Furious 7 released, but this movie is freaking awesome. What stands apart here is that humans performed every single stunt in the movie. That means there were no computer graphics involved at all. That itself should make this movie worth a watch.
The movie takes place in a beak dystopian future, where humanity is al but gone. Two rebels — Max and Furiosa — just might be abe to restore some order. What happens next is a chase so furious you’ll roar in glee or shut your eyes tight in fright.
2. Bombay Velvet
Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar
Genre: Thriller
Director: Anurag Kashyap
The movie is set in 1960s Bombay and revolved around the lives of a boxer, Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor), and an aspiring jazz singer, Rosie (Anushka Sharma). Johnny tries to become a ‘big shot’ in life, and not always by telling the truth. The movie has managed to successfully recreate the mood of India’s Industrial City of the ’60s. The lead pair has chemistry and it may be worth a watch in the big screen.
3. Pitch Perfect 2
Cast: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld
Genre: Comedy
Director: Elizabeth Banks
The Bellas, a champion all-girl acapella group from the fictional Barden University, performs before the President of the United States and his wife and a mishap occurs which shames them on national television. Determined to get out of the muddle, the mismatched singers decides to enter an international competition which no American group has ever won. It’s a very fun watch and the reviewers loved it.
4. Far From the Madding Crowd
Cast: Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen
Genre: Drama
Director: Thomas Vinterberg
This is an adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s Victorian-era novel of the same name. In the 1870s, a very headstrong Bathsheba Everdene attracts the attention of three different people — Gabriel Oak, who is a sheep farmer, Frank Troy, a reckless Sergeant and William Boldwood, a prosperous, but mature bachelor. The movie is a delight to watch, thanks to Mulligan’s spirited performance.
5. Chirakodinja Kinavual
Cast: Kunchako Boban, Rima Kallingal, Srinivasan
Genre: Comedy
Director: Santhosh Viswanath
This is arguably the first-ever spoof (along the lines of Scary Movie, minus the steamy scenes) made in Malayalam and it’s a rip-roaring ride. The movie’s thread is taken from a story narrated by a tailor in a 1996 film ‘Azhagiya Ravanan.’ In modern times, he sets out to make a ‘new generation’ movie out of it. The trials and tribulations he faces forms the rest of the story. Watch it with your family.
Admit it.. You're only going for Imperator Furiosa
Going to see Fury Road for second time it was that good.;)
install app called "al cinema" to know all new release in movies, timings and places in qatar.
Good efforts .............. Pirate ..............................
very smooth pirate
ver smooth pirate
I respectfully wish to disagree, sir.
The reason for my existence as Pirate of the Arabian is because there's a distinct lack of ORIGINAL content/movie reviews etc in Qatar. If you can point me in the direction of the 'many such sites' you were talking about, then I'd have no qualms in admitting I was wrong (I'm not talking about the copy-paste brigade of course).
Again, with all due respect, there are people who like my posts. If you're not keen on seeing/taking my post, feel free to not click.
QL is not a site for just news. Doha News is. Here, there's a place for everything, including movie reviews/information. I am sorry you feel so strongly about it.
Good evening to you.
we dont want movie reviews here, we already have too many websites for that. Please stay the old way.
I come here to read the news of Qatar.
