Ashghal to close street linking C-Ring and D-Ring
The busy two-lane road leading to Najma and Mansoura from Al Nuaija intersection on the D-Ring Road (near the Mall) will be closed for one-and-a-half month from June 9, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said yesterday.
The closure is as part of work to convert the small roundabout near Waqod petrol station on Najma Street to a signalized intersection.
The road will be expanded by adding a third lane on the stretch extending from Al Nuaija intersection to Mansoura intersection.
This key road linking C-Ring road and D-Ring road and connecting some most crowded areas in the heart of the city has been witnessing heavy traffic jams, especially in peak hours.
During the temporary closure, motorists have been advised to use available interior roads to reach their desired destinations.
Meanwhile, the "electricity" roundabout on the E-Ring road that connects with Abu Hamour and Al Nuaija (Mall) intersection will also be converted into a signal controlled intersection
Anyhow, i wish they've seen this coming before they allow commercials building in the are, I assure you after years there will be more constructions and traffic jams, if they've built a Good Plan before, i think this will be minimize.
I agree with GZ.. Kahrama R/A needs to be either converted to signal or build a fly over to bypass the R/A.
No pain no gain!! For every kind of development, somebody will have to suffer for sometime. Nice to see Doha major road networks getting renovated.
When Ashgal will make a U-Turn (with or without a traffic light) on the half way coming from F-Ring to E-Ring on Najma Street? Why do we have to wait 30-45 mins in Kahramaa R/A for a U-turn? Al Thumama is locked behind Kahrama R/A. To go out of the area or to come in, you need to pass from Kahramaa R/A. This is a serious Infrastructure upgrade needs to take place immediately!!!!
