Car Accident Issues
I have obtained a police report after i made a mistake for minor accident.
It happens, when i am taking a reverse and did not notice a car park behind me.
Eventualy, hitting the front left hood.
After police investication and taking the police report. SMS was sent through the other car owner whom the car I hit. Informing that the accident has been registered and instructing to proceed to my insurance provider.
Due to time being, I want to send the car of the one i hit to the shop that will only take 1 day to repair. Instead of sending to insurance that will take 1 or 2 weeks. I am wiiling to take the expenses since it is only a minor repaire that will not take cost expensive.
Can I directly, send it to the shop and bring along the police report for immediate repair. Or I still ask for my insurance provider. Since, I am thinking, the incident was registered to traffic police and once the insurance provider have completed the repair. They will inform the traffic police that the accident is cleared and settled at there system.
If I directly send it to the shop and make a repair. Do i will have a problem on later, once i renewed. If it will not be informed or clear on the system.
Please advice anyone with the idea for this issues.
Thanking in avance
dohasoccerguy: While I agree to most of the part of your comments, he should not go any garages which can claim the cost from insurance companies themselves. This will allow the garages to not only inflate the costs of repairs but add to the invoice work which they have not in reality carried out.
I have done this before - took my police report and found a place to repair it in the Industrial Area. There is no need to go with the insurance company - most of them are useless, and they make you go to their friends to repair who sometime don't do a good job.
The other thing is that some repair places in Industrial Area can actually fix for you and claim from the Insurance Company themselves. I am not sure which ones though...
u can even goto Insurance or he to ask Cash, they will give Cash on Spot and then where ever u want or he, can fix.
To my knowledge, you can have the damages repaired without making a claim at the insurance company as long as you have the police report with you. Insurance company comes in when you lodge a claim. Also, if the damage to the other car is minor, getting it repaired through insurance will prove costly, let alone the lengthy time their workshop will take. This is because all insurance companies have a minimum deductible amount on each claim you lodge and this amount varies from company to company even if the damages are minor ones.
