At least 615 people living in Qatar have converted to Islam during Ramadan this year, according to stats released by the Qatar Guest Center and Sheikh Eid Charity Association.

That works out to more than 20 people a day. (Mashallah!)

The majority of the new Muslims are from the Philippines - 517 men and women - while there were 26 Indian, 32 Sri Linkan, 15 Nepalese and 25 from the United Kingdom.

According to QNA, there were 144 women and 417 men among them.

The Qatar Guest Center was established in 1998 and is described as "a pioneer in the field of the call to God with wisdom and good advice by explaining the definition of Islam religion for all people, and residents in Qatar in particular".

Despite being a Muslim country, Qatar does promotes freedom of religion and has established buildings for worship, at such as the Religious Complex in Doha - widely known as "Church City".

The state has also confirmed that it had strengthened constitutional protection of freedom of religion or belief by adopting several legislations and establishing many institutions.

The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue was set up in 2008, with the aim of promoting and spreading the culture of dialogue, acceptance of others and peaceful coexistence of different religions.

Pbxpbx: Well done on a most juvenile comment...its not your place to judge others or their motives...theres a god up there to do the judging, so you'd do well to be mindful of your own insignificance and the fact that you're just one of an estimated 100 billion people to have walked the earth and are nothing special...tc..

pbxpbx80 May be peace be upon you.. don't be jealous. it is their choice.. just because you have misunderstood something, it does not mean all others should have the same perspective. Good luck.

:-) .... errr :-( in fact

What do they think? Will they get better job? Will their salary be increased? Will they be less harassed by their local bosses?

Don't tell me they suddenly had epiphany and had to change religion. They rather had a stroke from heat. Aren't they afraid that their previous religion will punish them for apostasy with death? Oh wait... it's probably only one religion :-)
