Don’t let anger get the better of you
We all have been in similar situations – Yes we get angry – BUT be careful what you say and who you say it to – Well done to the Police.
Emirati Police recently arrested a British citizen of Indian origin for allegedly insulting security personnel, the airline’s employee and the UAE, using obscene words, after he missed a connecting flight from Abu Dhabi.
He missed a connecting flight from Abu Dhabi to India caused by delays of his earlier flight from Heathrow to Abu Dhabi.
Lieutenant Colonel Fares Al Bakiri from CID, Abu Dhabi Police, who is heading the investigations, explained that the incident took place a week ago when the traveller arrived at Abi Dhabi International Airport on a delayed flight from Heathrow Airport resulting in missing the connecting flight from Abu Dhabi to India. He started swearing at the airline’s employee, and blocked the passengers’ queue behind him, insisting to board his connecting flight although the gate was closed and the aircraft is about to take off.
Lt. Col. Al Bakiri said two officers were called to the scene and other airline’s employees and witnesses gave identical testimonies. The officers asked the passenger to sit down and be patient until they figure out how to help him. However, he started swearing at the officers using vulgar obscene words, swore against the UAE, and showed arrogance as he threatened the officers that he holds a British passport.
Regardless of the passenger denial of the above acts, claiming that he did not know that the personnel were police officers, eye-witnesses asserted the opposite and that both officers had their identification badges visible in English and Arabic. They also asserted that other passengers warned him that they are security personnel who came to solve the issue, yet the passenger went on in his rage and swearing. Later on, he claimed that he was swearing against himself and his bad luck, and did not mean to insult the UAE and the security personnel.
Britexpat: You are on the other side of the fence. Come over to my side and you will soon realize the ground realities. Also, you must have been reading the posts of several westerners at QL where they have openly bragged that the "best is from the West."
I'm sure that a day in the slammer has made him realise the value of humilty :O)
Acchabaccha: I don't believe that most "Westerners" have a superiority complex. Perhaps this is a perception
After being in the West and managing to get the British nationality, he also began carrying that "aura of a superiority complex" that most western nationals carry over people from third world countries. The Emirati Police should bring his thinking down to the ground level and teach him how to live and behave with other humans.
There is no such thing as a Higher Citizenship. This guy was either drunk or a moron
A citizenship of higher level? What nonsense is this.
there are people in this planet that when given the privilege to change their citizenship to higher level became arrogant and forgot their true identity as TCN. I hope this man learn a lesson after that arrest.
