Hi my relatives in the US invites us to come and join with them next year during the "thanksgiving" they will send us invitation to come there and celebrate the occasion. I would like to know what is the requirements? Could you please answer below few questions?

1. Is there a chance of getting approve if we applied for tourist visa (myself, wife, son, father, mother and my younger brother)?

2. Even we have the invitation from them is there any possibilities it will be denied?

3. Some says you need a huge show money from your bank account in order for getting it approved? And if there is how much is it?

4. Is there any chance of getting denied if your residency here in Qatar are less than 1 year?

5. Usually what the consul officer will ask you during the interview?

Hoping for your kind assistance from my humble inquiries... Thank you!

prove to them with documents that you will be coming back to Qatar, this is to eliminate the suspicion that you will be staying beyond the 6-month allowable stay in the US. and just a tip, don't apply at one time. too many family members applying at the same time is not good. though your intention is good to celebrate thanksgiving, chances are you will be rejected. why don't you apply first. try it out. then the rest will apply later on.

Hi athena1979, most of the members of our family is here my 2 young sister left in the Philippines, me, my wife, father, mother and my brother are working here for good. Yes we can prove to the counselor that we will come back as the source of our income is here. And our company needs us to come back as we still have lots of responsibility to finish when we come back from our leave. The reason why we want to visit there is an invitation from them to join and celebrate their thanksgiving, and this is also a get together for all of us as most of our relatives we didn't see them for a long year.

Hi J.Noman thanks for that info. By the way in regards to show money is it ok if I present my 6 months bank statement proof that this amount of money I earn can support my stay in the US? If just in case we don't have much that amount $20k or less is there a chance of getting denied?

For example during the interview when the counsellor ask where we will staying, if we answer like "in our relative house" same like that answer also can be denied? or shall we say we will book in a hotel? which will be good to answer? precisely because our relatives there are presenting to us to stay in their home is this a good reason to say to the counsellor or is it a negative response to it?

Hope you can help. Thanks a lot my friend.

Hi,

1. Yes, you can apply for a tourist visa.

2. Depends on your counsellor, interview & documents and above all your intent to travel to USA. you need an invitation letter and your host should write a letter to the us consulate in doha stating they want to invite u and will be responsible for your upkeep.

3. You just have to show enough money for your tickets, maintenance and relevant expenses you will incur during your stay. $20-25k should be enough.

4. Rejection can have lots of reasons but 1 year residency shudnt be a problem.

5. The counsellor will ask you an array of questions, FAQs include whats ur reason of visit, where will you be staying, questions regarding your profession and family etc.

Hope this helps.

All the best.

I don't know much about USA but I do know that having a good job with a reasonable salary package will boost your chances of getting visa to any of the western world. my fear is that if you haven't travel to any western country before and you are going with a family of six you might need to have up to 20,000QR in your account.
