The Emiri Diwan has announced Eid al-Adha holidays to begin on Wednesday September 23 for ministries.

Government employees would report back to work on Wednesday September 30.

As for Qatar Central Bank (QCB), banks, QCB-supervised financial institutions and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), the Emiri Diwan's statement said that the Governor of QCB will determine the start date of the holiday.

Millions of Muslims from around the world gather in Makkah for the annual Hajj pilgrimage every year after which this occassion of Eid is celebrated.

Calm has been restored in Makkah following a crane accident that killed over 100 pilgrims.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, sent his condolences after this accident, praying upon Allah the Almighty to bestow blessing upon the deceased and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
