Planning to offer a sacrifice this Eid in Qatar? Then this is what you should know –

#- Slaughtering an animal at one’s own home, garden or backyard is strictly prohibited in Qatar.

This specially took effect when Australia, the world’s largest livestock exporter signed a deal with Qatar and two other Middle eastern countries against slaughtering animals at homes.

As a result of this, observers were placed to make sure that sheep and such animals were not bought for house slaughter.

#- There are some slaughter houses in Qatar that would do the deed for you. For instance, Widam’s (formerly known as Mawashi) slaughter houses are government owned and can be seen in various places around the country.

#- If you are going to go to a slaughter house, make sure you go quite early for, the slaughter houses will crowd up in no time.

#- You can even buy a ticket at the Qatar Charity kiosks in malls and super markets so that a goat or a sheep would be sacrificed for you.

#- If you’d like to choose your own animal for sacrifice, then the whole sale animal market in Abu Hamour would be the ideal place.

True. But considering the circumstances where we are living, nothing more could be possible, especially for most of the expats.

you can do the animal sacrifice on first day of Eid after Eid prayer, or the following three days. better to do in the first day if you can manage the rush in the market and slaughter houses.

In the slaughter house in Abu Hamour, you have to buy the sheep first and stay in queue to get a ticket . Then another queue with the animal until the point of slaughter.( you can find porters to do this things easily) Then you can wait outside, to receive your meat. You can buy plastic bags from counters arranged inside the slaughter house to carry the meat. ( 2 bags for sheep and 10 bags for camel or cow) If you wish to buy a camel for sacrifice, you can buy it from the market near the slaughter house. Then bring in to the slaughter house after morning prayer . You have to use a boom truck( lorry equipped with a crane) to unload the the camel in front of the slaughter house. Then you can receive the meat from the other side. Make sure you take a ticket for 80 riyals as the fees. You have to arrange enough manpower to handle around 300-400 kilo of meat. 1 person alone, or a group of 3 or 7 together can sacrifice a camel. It cost you around 5000-6000 riyals all together depends on the size of the camel. .
