Hi living in the Ezdan Hotel formally known as Bavaria City Suites well what can i say we have another frustrating day another power black out this has been the most frustrating place i have ever lived in if it isn't bad enough that we have no facilities which have been promised for months no internet in the rooms (we have to sit in the foyer so there is no privacy) if you are thinking about living here please think twice

About two years ago I posted a comment on this site about this dump, and posted a bunch of pictures of the ridiculous way it was built, and man, they freaked out. I was there because my business rented the place, and the boss called me up and had to move me to a different place, they wanted me out asap. The new place was much nicer anyway. Nice to see a Qatari handle criticism so well.

Turns out the owner is the Emir's brother, and he didn't like it. BTW, I left this crap country last year, which is why I'm posting again. They can't threaten me anymore, and if a Qatari shows up at my doorstep with something to say about it, he better realize he's not "protected" anymore. Oh, and I'm putting the pictures up again, too.

There is an old English saying "buy cheap, buy many"

and I say employ cheap employ many! that’s a common problem in Qatar which soon to be realised

Cheap is the deal cheap is the end.

I know that the successful leaders bargain for an excellent deal but surly they do not look for the cheapest and pay a bit extra for it hoping they could make the most out of it,because at the end of the day THEY DO NOT HAVE IT (IT’S SIMPLY A TALENT TO BE CREATIVE YOU CAN NOT LEARN OR COPY HOW TO BE A CREATIVE PERSON.

some comments are true at the time..

i just had a viewing and i can tell ya, it improved alot, especially in T4.

you have Kmart, coffe shops, restaurants and much more.

it's getting more setteled and quite as the construction is almost coming to an end.

after all, it's an egyptian team and for them it's good enough!!!!!!

have you been to egypt?

FINALLY SOME PEOPLE WHO I TOTALLY AGREE WITH!!! THESE LAST $ COMMENTS COULDNT BE MORE CLEAR ABOUT HOW IT IS LIKE TO LIVE IN THIS OVERPRICED S***HOLE CALLED EZDAN!

By Guidal• 26 Jul 2009 08:34

I completely agree with the comments concerning the bad conditions of Ezdan Towers where I have been living for 1 year.

Tower 1, which management seems better than other towers, is the best if not a good one. The maintenance and housekeeping staff is doing its best but don’t get the material to do so. Quite often, they have to take spare parts from an empty apartment to repair yours.

Tower 3 is horrible specially if you face Tower 4. A few meters only between the towers. I was there for 5 months and couldn’t see the sky and had to live with the lights on.

Tower 2 is not very clean and, as Tower 4, has regular water leakage, sewage blockage, false alarm, ….

The pool and the gym are very large but, as they welcome outside customers (hey, the money) Fridays and Saturdays are crowded! Like the French Riviera during the Festival de Cannes.

Gym and pool are free of charge for the tenants but don’t try to go for lunch or drink with a friend… you will have to pay 60 QAR to let him go in! No guest is allowed.

I agree that fees have to be collected for pool use but not for inviting your friend for a coffee.

The rent fee for a 2 bed-room apartment is 16.500 QAR which is the average in West Bay but is incredibly too high for this bag of rubbles.

The apartments are over furnished, with damaged or broken furniture. What is the use of a luggage stand in each bedroom and in the living room for a one-year stay !

Never forget that Ezdan is not a service apartment but is a hotel where you can book for a long stay. Even the living room is furnished as a bed room : sofa/bed, night table, …

All 4 towers and the pool area are very noisy due to the constructions going on around almost day and night.

I'm now in a smaller condo, 2 storey-house with 2 apartments. I pay 13.000 QAR for a nice apartment bigger than Ezdan with my own decoration.

Think twice before signing !!

Since our arrival in May 2008, we have encountered several problems.

Regularly, the fire alarm sets off day or night on a regular basis. These last 3 nights, we were awoken by this alarm between 3 and 4 AM. We contacted the reception desk and, according to the night manager on duty, the problem is very well known by the management and the maintenance whom is trying to improve the system. Nevertheless, in 3 months, we have noted no improvement!

In addition to the displeasure to be awoken every night, our safety is a risk as, when a real alarm will be set off by a fire, all the residents will think that it is again a false alarm.

There are of course the other displeasures and discomforts met since our arrival:

- windows which are closed with masking tape,

- windows so dirty that it is not possible to see through,

- dangerous access to the dishwasher due to the electrical stove,

- sanitary equipment : regular sewage smells, draining pipes falling down, …

- silicone or cement on tiles and tiles walls,…

- regular internet breakdown

I regret noting that the housing provided is far below the 5* Ezdan Towers mentioned on Ezdan website. Upon our arrival, we were said that Ezdan was in the preopening phase but we just observe that everything is falling into rubbles.

The housekeeping and maintenance personnel are doing their best effort to help but when they have nothing more than masking tape to repair a 2 cm gap around 3 windows, there is nothing more they can do!

We have requested several times in the past 3 months for another apartment. We are on a waiting list which doesn’t seem to be looked at.

Having informed the Management again and again of all these problems, we would like to inform you that if we are not relocated into an appropriate apartment by end of September the latest we will have to reconsider our accommodation for the next future.

We know that the apartment … in Tower 1 will be available from September … the latest and would like to have confirmation, as soon as possible, that we can move over there.

We hope it will not have to come to this and that the management will take the necessary action in order to resolve all these issues.

Should you wish to discuss these matters, we would be glad to meet with you in person.

Thanking you in advance for you speedily response and action

By justiceforall• 25 Jul 2009 08:42

I was there temporarily..Last month i moved to a permanent one.

But believe that temporary 2 months was like 5 years for me..

-% 80 Personnel is non experienced and they know anything about hospitality.

-The English language level of staff is too low

-No ac-plugs at bathrooms ( they say this is for security..ok then, why you put ac in kitchen?..)

-The design of rooms are terrible.

-Furniture is for fireplace of barbecue. They are old fashioned and damaged.

-Hygiene level is very very very LOW.Just try to watch in secret way how they clean your rooms.

-To order something from Market is a serious business.Philipino girls are at the phone..You need 5 minutes to order only a bread as they speak a different language which is not English.

-The plumbing systems are terrible

-The design of the rooms are not practical.

-Gym is not for amateurs ( cause when you are getting into the gym they make you sign a contract which tells that they don't accept any responsibility for injuries or accidents...However they do not offer any coaches or any supports)

-When they need to take a money from you they are so fast but when it is for service they are like turtles.

-All floors are marble...but the one which we use in toilets.

-The isolation of the rooms is the worst that i have ever seen. You can hear anything about the corridors of your floor like it is happening at your room.

-The pool is at 4th floor. Ezdan consists of 4 towers..4th floor is like a courtyard between these 4 high towers. If you wanna have some sun please calculate the time cause the towers are shading.

-Internet is too slow.

-The garbage rooms at the floors..They are smelling..There is no ventilation.

And they take nearly 17000 QR for 3 bedrooms( Which means nearly 4700 usd)....There is nice Villas with this price...Funny ))))))))))))))))

**The Only good things are Colombiana Cafe and The DVD shop.

If you give importance to you quality of life and service..If you gonna stay at Qatar for long time and if you want to be calm and private..I NEVER ADVICE EZDAN to you.

10,000 QAR per month for Studio.. I think that's executive Studio. That's too expensive !! I would imagine for one-bed and two-bed rooms they charge even more.

For that kinda rent, I think we can find better apartments (flats) some other places.

Rental is too expensive.. unless your employer pays 100%.

Stop by and they will give you a packet on info with a price list and floor plans for the various units. The place seems to have mixed reviews, but mainly negative. Sounds like you get what you pay for. Can't beat the price or location if you work in the West Bay area.

we pay just under 10,000 for a studio. crappy place. not worth the money. the maintanace and staff is below any expectations, the bulding has endless issues. most days hall ways smell like garbage or some burnt stinky food from the apartments where they are stacking up with philipinos who dont mind living crumbled up in a small place and cook with their doors opened, and afterwards...leave their garbage on the hallways...

find some other place. for your own mental health!!!

honestly, i would advice for your to look for anither place.

yes...honda-san... I wouldnt mind a lousy service and all the s*** we have to out up here...as long as we were not paying this very high rent AND they didnt promise arms and legs when they know it wont happen! It is the lack of honesty that bothers me the most.

Just be clear, up front and we will know what we are going to deal with.

To Tuna, don't try to be smart. Just try to pay a lot of money for apt (which is called "Luxurious") and get nothing!!! instead...This is what we are talking about in here.

You are correct that we should appreciate what we have and be mindful of those less fortunate..

However, the discussion here is about paying a lot of money for renting an apartmnent in Ezdan and not getting the service you were promised...

I think most people are just spoiled! Just look around you and open your eyes to the people that have nothing. Maybe your shower is not working or your door is not working. Just remember, plenty of people do not have the luxury's you have! Go for coffee or a walk and relax. Doha is new in its development and you know that. Maintenance crews are new at this and are probably stressed out to. Your yelling only makes you look bad and most likely gets you worse service! You had great patience in the past and its still there, take time to reboot and find yourself again. Oh and take that Golden spoon out of your pocket and remember you are in a different country now and you are probable looking for your pot of Gold and will move back when and if you find it!

No offence just speaking out!

to The Finn.. i live in an executive suite in tower 4, finishing is awful and all in all i think mukunda's description is quite accurate.. plus staff are rather dumb and management slow to respond to complaints.. my sense is that they are trying to improve without much success so far

not the best place in town but, lets face it, rent is more affordable compared to other more posh towers in west bay, so you get what you pay for (doha low standards that is)... and they have more than 90% occupancy at present, its not that bad after all..

the major plus for me: 10 minutes drive to work!!

The Hotel seems fine, slow though since Ive been contacting them for our Expats' staffs' accommodation. So far we received no complaints from them except one time re their "wifi" thing. I believed their wifi is not yet stable but they are working on it already, I presume...

Nevertheless, the staffs from sales to the receptionist, they all are good and entertaining... :D

My wife's company rented the whole of what they called tower 1 for the Asian games, as well as several other towers. This was regarded as the worst tower in Doha at the time.

There was even a rumor at one time that it would be demolished and rebuilt as there was so much wrong with it.

I went to see Ezdan today, tower 4.. Showroom seemed fine, poor finishing of course but Im not buying it for myself :D Is anyone here living in tower 4 and has the Executive suite? They didnt have a showroom for that and will convert standard suite to a executive one if I decide to rent it.

My other choice is Regency towers which is really nice, only thing that is missing is a place for sunbathing. Any experience of Regency towers, anyone?

Hey People

Beware you wont get the value for your money in Middle East for any apartment dwelling. However, Ezdan has some nice attractions too. The swimming pool is impressive olympic size and the Gym (though not sized for 2200 apartments it caters to) is fully equipped and state of the art USA made gym equipments. The trainer is Srilankan who always like to abstain from giving any training tips, probably he wants some tips to give back some tips. the pun intended. the service from the front desk is miserable. I live in 2 b/r suite. the entire building finishing is second class. the pantry is equipped with full cooking range, MW oven, Washing m/c. dish washer. The cutleries are almost nothing (Except spoon, fork and knife). Fridge is fine. shelves so so. There is no exhaust fan for pantry smoke to escape. So if you burn something, you have to live with the smell for so many days. There is not much views from any buildings or suites as the sorrounding glass facade is fully dirty and there is no scheduled cleaning. Also, the location is huge construction site. So only dirt view is possible. There are LCD televisions. But not much choice for channel tv's. No Iron box and stand provided. Only one small electronic safe in master b/r. Master B/R size is okay. No landary baskets. the cloth cub-boards are small sized and suitable only for a week or two stay. Public taxi not possible to get. Only limosine service as per hotel management arrangement which comes within 10 to 15 min from your order mostly. rates are exorbitant. Then who cares for the rates, when they could afford to stay at Ezdan towers. Located in the most poshest of areas in Doha, WEST BAY. The city center with so many cinemas, Carrefour, fast food joints is just 10 min walkable distance or QR 6 to 7 one way distance. Luxury shopping center 'SALAAM' is located near by. Ezdan towers is adjacent to Doha Olympic building and very near to DOHA villa compound. The approach to and from this building is awkward and totally mindless. The TV channels often is disturbed

Read the post above why bavaria pulled out from the project. yes I agree would never want my name associated with these buildings. the standards of finishing is atrocious. Not that they selected the absolute worst materials but they truely were installed by inexperienced and no talent people. Must have picked them up for daily work from the industrial area. Really pathetic. The Ezdan name can now be associated with trash. Watch out for any other of their projects because they appear to have no regrets about cutting corners thats for sure.

Visited Ezdan for the first time today and cannot believe what a dump it is. Top to bottom a complete skunkhole. Take a look at the finishing of the walls, tiles, cielings, cabinets, PLASTIC MOLD DOORS !?!?! Cmon please how can they be so cheap. Wreaks of cheapness throughout. You can tell they were just looking for the cheapest trimmings and workers to install it all. Paint drops everywhere. No attention to detail. Dont waste your time in this glorified rat house.

..understand the comments re the pool, its busy every day & as a 40m long pool is one of the biggest I've ever used. I do however realise this thread has been running for a lot longer than I've been living there!!

The gym is great, internet in the rooms works, car parks fine, no water leaks....

People looking at this thread, please understand that there are 4 towers, I cannot comment on anything other than where I live in T2.

No complaints, happy with service, staff good, don't quite understand why some have problems & some don't.

If you're seriously considering moving in, check the place out yourselves!!

I dont know much about EZDAN,but I do know why BAVARIA pulled out from EZDAN. BAVARIA, a reputed name in Germany, did not like the way the Contractor violated the German standards stipulated for this Accommodation complex. I have been living at the place and so far so good.. no real complaints.. yes, the pool isnt there yet, but I can at least see the progress on it from my window :)

gym is small but does the job

and to be honest, for this price... there arent many options in the Westbay/Dafna area

one issue that I have though is that the kithcen doesnt have any cabinets.. now thats strange.. but I dont cook that much, at least for now.. this might become a problem in the future

Does anyone know if these guys can install the cabinets - coz the sales guy said there are no kitchen cabinets in the 1-bed appts

I have two of my friends staying out there in Ezdan Hotel and suites formerly known as Bavaria City Suites and they seem to be quite happy and satisfied with the services there. I did visit the place recently as I am thinking of making a move in there and infact I found the place pretty good and with the pricing - the facilties seem to be great! Great location.. spacious rooms and superb view.

When I checked with my friends staying there(they have been staying there since the beginning) - they mentioned that during the Bavaria times - they had lots of problems and nothing at all was moving ahead and the service was very poor and none of the promises made by the management were being kept. However - with Bavaria going out and the new management of Thani bin Thani Holdings taking over with their brand name - EZDAN HOTEL AND SUITES - they have been experiencing a lot of positive difference with the car park being open, new gym, free internet at the lobby levels and many of the previous promises being delivered. I would assume that not all the problems would be fixed over night - but was glad to know from my friends that a lot of positive changes are happening and infact they mentioned that they get a regular update from the management on the progress and improvements planned and achieved - thats pretty neat! Another friend of mine is moving in next week and apparently most of the apparments seem to be sold out in the tower one and he could not get the view he wanted as there were hardly any appartments left. I happened to pass by the second tower that they are planning to open shortly and that turned out to be really a great one. Ofcourse some of the faults of the Doha construction quality can be visible in first tower - but hey - thats there every where. Even the new Ramada plaza thats recently opened - the construction quality is poor for a building of a 4 star or 5 star level hotel. Any ways - I did like the place and I found the staff at the reception and sales pretty good!

Yalla - if I get a good view - I am going to take the appartment - and I shall invite all of you to my appartment for a party ;-)- so wish me luck in getting a sea view !!!

The services are lousy, the counstruction/finishing quality is lousy, water leakage in bathrooms, swimming pool abandoned & dirty, no restaurants, no kitchenets in some of the rooms, no one gives a damn from the maintenance/cleaning staff.

It seems that the owner doesn't want to pay for taking care of these things, that's why Bavaria left it. That's my assesment of the issue.
